Maurice Alexander (Australian Politician)
Maurice Alexander (1820 – 27 January 1874) was an English-born Australian politician who served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1861 to 1872. Background He was born in London to merchant Isaac Alexander and Susan Levy. He migrated to Sydney in 1834 and became a merchant. He also owned property at Goulburn. In 1857 he married Isabella Levey. In 1861 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Goulburn Goulburn ( ) is a regional city in the Southern Tablelands of the Australian state of New South Wales, approximately south-west of Sydney, and north-east of Canberra. Maurice Alexander, (24 December 1889 – 16 July 1945) was a Canadian barrister and soldier who later moved to England and had careers in the Diplomatic Service, English law and politics. Family and education Maurice Alexander was born into a Jewish family, the son of L G Alexander JP. He was educated at McGill University in Montreal, where he was a Gold Medallist of the Literary Society. He obtained BA and BCL degrees.''Who was Who'', OUP 2007 Career Alexander went in for the law. Maurice Alexander (born February 16, 1991) is a former American football linebacker and safety. He played college football at Arizona Western College and Utah State and was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Early life Alexander attended Eureka High School in Eureka, Missouri where he was a three-sport athlete. In football, he was a two-time all-state football selection. He also participated in track and all-city wrestling, finishing third in the Missouri wrestling championships. He committed to Utah State to play college football. College career Alexander attended Arizona Western College. In two seasons at Arizona Western, Alexander registered 179 tackles, 15 sacks, and four interceptions.
