Maurer, Perth Amboy
Maurer is residential neighbourhood and industrial district of Perth Amboy in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Its name is derived from the "company town" built there in 1876. It is north of the Route 440 approach to the Outerbridge Crossing and south of the Perth Amboy Refinery, which began in 1920 as the Barber Asphalt Company. For a time it was known as Barber, a name which has fallen out of use The eastern area along the waterfront was active during World War II in building and decommissioning ships for the U.S. Navy. One of the primary ship builders during World War II was the New Jersey Shipbuilding Company. The community also housed the American Smelting and Refining Company. Maurer AG, formerly known as Maurer Söhne GmbH & Co. KG, is a steel construction company and roller coaster manufacturer. Founded in 1876 in Munich, Germany, the company has built many styles of steel buildings, ranging from bridges, industrial buildings, and even art structures. While known for building a variety of wild mouse coasters, its subsidiary Maurer Rides GmbH has branched out into spinning, looping, and launching coasters. The company also produces a free-fall tower ride. On December 15, 2014, the company changed its name to Maurer AG. Roller coaster work In 1993, Maurer took over the amusement ride division of a fellow German firm, BHS. BHS constructed four Schwarzkopf-designed roller coasters, working with Sansei Yusoki and Zierer in the process. Maurer Motorsport
Maurer Motorsport is a Swiss auto racing team based in Roggwil. For over ten years the team has been a regular competitor in the ADAC Procar Series. They won the drivers title in 2005 with Mathias Schläppi in a former BTCC works MG ZS with assistance from West Surrey Racing. The team again won the drivers title in 2006 with Vincent Radermecker, this time in a Chevrolet Lacetti. In 2006 the team also entered Radermecker in selected rounds of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, along with Rainer Bastuck and María de Villota. De Villota, who was their sole driver in 2007, also returned for one round of the WTCC that season. In 2008 Maurer Motorsport ran a car in the Italian based Superstars Series for de Villota.
