Schaanwald
Schaanwald is a village of Liechtenstein, located in the municipality of Mauren. History Prior to the establishment of the village, the Roman Empire had a presence here. Villas from that time period have been excavated at Schaanwald. Geography The village is located in north-central Liechtenstein, close to Austrian borders of Feldkirch, on the main road from Schaan that links the country with Buchs (Switzerland) and Feldkirch. The nearest populated areas are Mauren and Nendeln. Transport Schaanwald has a train station on the Feldkirch-Buchs line. However this has not been served since 2013. The station opened in 1902. It was staffed until 1988. Over time the number of trains stopping at the station diminished considerably. From 2010 until 2012 only one train per day stopped here. Peter Kaiser (historian)
Peter Kaiser (1 October 1793 – 23 February 1864) was a historian and statesman from Liechtenstein. Kaiser was born in Mauren, in the Principality of Liechtenstein as one of eleven children. He studied languages and history in Feldkirch, Vienna and Freiburg/Breisgau. Kaiser became known as a proponent of the rights of the common people or serfs in his home country. In 1820 during the Congress of Vienna, he promoted German unification and rights issues. Due to the unpopularity of this stand in an age of imperialism, he was subsequently forced out of Germany. Kaiser moved to Switzerland and became a professor in Hofwil ( Bern). In 1836, he taught in Aarau and then in Disentis, in the Grisons. In 1843, Kaiser was appointed as a representative to Prince Alois in Vienna. Unterland (electoral District)
Unterland (german: Wahlkreis Unterland), meaning "lower land", is one of the two electoral districts of Liechtenstein. The district's administrative seat is the town of Schellenberg, due to its historical existence as the Lordship of Schellenberg (german: Herrschaft Schellenberg). It has 10 seats in the Landtag. Dominique Hasler
Dominique Hasler (born 6 October 1978) is a Liechtensteiner politician, and member of the Patriotic Union. Following the 2017 general election, she became Minister of Home Affairs, Education and Environment. She was appointed to be Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education, and Sport by Prime Minister Daniel Risch in March 2021. Career Born Dominique Matt on 6 October 1978, she grew up in Mauren, Liechtenstein. She took the surname Gantenbein following the marriage of her mother. She progressed into teaching, studying at the Intercantonal College of Special Education in Zurich, Switzerland. Gantenbein then worked as a special education teacher at several schools, before studying herself for a Master's degree in Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Management at the University of Liechtenstein. The Curta is a hand-held mechanical calculator designed by Curt Herzstark. It is known for its extremely compact design: a small cylinder that fits in the palm of the hand. It was affectionately known as the "pepper grinder" or "peppermill" due to its shape and means of operation; its superficial resemblance to a certain type of hand grenade also earned it the nickname "math grenade". Schellenberg is a municipality in the lowland area of Liechtenstein, on the banks of the Rhine. , it has a population of 1,107 and covers an area of History Early history The area was first settled by Celts, then by Rhaetians. Rome conquered the area in 15 BC, and made it part of the province of Rhaetia. The Province later became a county (countship) under Charlemagne. The county was repeatedly divided among heirs.
