Maureen Jones
Maureen Jones (born 6 June 1927) is an Australian classical pianist. She was born in Sydney and grew up in the Sydney suburbs of Warrawee, Turramurra, and Gladesville. At primary-school age she was invited to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music by its director Edgar Bainton, and made her debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at age ten playing Beethoven's first piano concerto. She performed with Musica Viva from 1948 to 1950, before emigrating to Europe. She briefly lived in London and then went to Zürich, where she formed a duo with Australian violinist Brenton Langbein which became a trio with him and Australian horn player Barry Tuckwell. She began collaborating on four-hand piano repertoire with Dario De Rosa, the pianist of the , whom she married; she moved to Trieste with him and the couple had a daughter. Warrawee, New South Wales
Warrawee is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Warrawee is located 17 kilometres north-west of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. Warrawee is predominantly a small residential suburb with few commercial entities. Notably, its railway station provides no commercial activity which is uncommon in the Sydney train network. This should not be confused with Wirawee, the fictional small country town in the Tomorrow series of books for young people by John Marsden and the film derived from the first book, '' Tomorrow when the war began''. Edinburgh International Festival
The Edinburgh International Festival is an annual arts festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, spread over the final three weeks in August. Notable figures from the international world of music (especially classical music) and the performing arts are invited to join the festival. Visual art exhibitions, talks and workshops are also hosted. The first 'International Festival of Music and Drama' took place between 22 August and 11 September 1947. Under the first festival director, the distinguished Austrian-born impresario Rudolf Bing, it had a broadly-based programme, covering orchestral, choral and chamber music, Lieder and song, opera, ballet, drama, film, and Scottish 'piping and dancing' on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, a structure that was followed in subsequent years. The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic ( it, Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) is the senior Italian order of merit. It was established in 1951 by the second President of the Italian Republic, Luigi Einaudi.
