St Maurus
Maurus (french: Maur; it, Mauro) was the first disciple of Benedict of Nursia (512–584). He is mentioned in Gregory the Great's biography of the latter as the first oblate, offered to the monastery by his noble Roman parents as a young boy to be brought up in the monastic life. Four stories involving Maurus recounted by Gregory formed a pattern for the ideal formation of a Benedictine monk. The most famous of these involved Saint Maurus's rescue of Placidus, a younger boy offered to Benedict at the same time as Maurus. The incident has been reproduced in many medieval and Renaissance paintings. Maurus is venerated on January 15 in the 2001 Roman Martyrology and on the same date along with Placid in the ''Proper Masses for the Use of the Benedictine Confederation''. Maur is a suburb town of Bathinda City and a municipal council in Bathinda district in the Indian state of Punjab.It has a class II Municipal committee, located on the Bathinda- Delhi railway line, and the Bathinda-Mohali (Ajitgarh) state highway (no. 12-A). This State Highway has now been upgraded to National Highway NH 148B (Bathinda-Kotputli, Jaipur National Highway). Maur Mandi is about 35 km from Bathinda city. Mangaung Regiment
The Mangaung Regiment (formerly Regiment Bloemspruit) is a reserve infantry regiment of the South African Army. History Origin In 1964, Regiment Bloemspruit with its HQ in Bloemfontein, was established on 1 January as the first Citizen Force Infantry Regiment in the then Orange Free State. The total strength of the Regiment at that stage was 15 members. The then Minister of Defence and later State President, the late Mr J.J.
