Maui Bus
Maui Bus is the public transportation service of the island of Maui, Hawaii, and is operated by Roberts Hawaii under a public-private partnership with Maui County government. They operate 13 regular local bus routes and 4 commuter routes, which have a single early morning run and a return trip in the afternoon and require a reservation. History The first public transit service on Maui started in 1992 with two loop routes in Central Maui operated by the non-profit organization Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO). These were operated over the same route in opposite directions, offered free of charge with a suggested donation. The Maui Bus service was started as the Holo Kaa service in August 2002 with a joint venture between the private company Akina Aloha Tours, MEO, and the county government in a subsidized joint venture to provide bus service for South, West, and Central Maui. Maui County, Hawaii
Maui County, officially the County of Maui, is a county in the U.S. state of Hawaii. It consists of the islands of Maui, Lānai, Molokai (except for a portion of Molokai that comprises Kalawao County), Kahoolawe, and Molokini. The latter two are uninhabited. As of the 2020 census, the population was 164,754. The county seat is Wailuku. Maui County is included in the Kahului-Wailuku-Lahaina, HI Metropolitan Statistical Area. ElDorado Axess
The ENC Axess is a line of low-floor transit buses available in 35' and 40' nominal lengths manufactured by ENC (formerly ElDorado National–California) in Riverside, California starting from 2003. In addition to the different available lengths, the buses are sold with a variety of prime movers, ranging from conventional diesel, LNG/CNG combustion engines, diesel-electric hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell with a traction motor. The Axess was the first full-size heavy-duty transit bus, defined as ENC building both the chassis and body, offered by the company. Previously, ENC had built medium-duty mid-size transit and shuttle buses, with the company building a custom body on a commercial chassis. The ENC E-Z Rider and its successor E-Z Rider II are a line of low-floor, mid-sized transit buses available in 30', 32', and 35' nominal lengths manufactured by ENC (formerly ElDorado National–California) in Riverside, California starting from 1996. In addition to the different lengths, the buses are available with several powertrain options including traditional diesel, CNG, LNG, Propane, and diesel-electric hybrid. The initial E-Z Rider was offered from 1996 to 2001. ENC marketed its successor, the E-Z Rider II, from 2001 to 2007. From 2005 until 2014 ENC also offered a restyled model as the E-Z Rider II MAX. The most recent and currently sold version is the E-Z Rider II BRT with bus rapid transit styling and features, which was introduced in 2008. ENC (formerly El Dorado National–California, after which the company's name is derived) is an American manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses with its headquarters and main factory in Riverside, California, and owned by REV Group. The company was founded in 1976 as National Coach Corporation and combined with ElDorado Motors, a Kansas-based builder of cutaway buses in 1991 to become El Dorado National–California and El Dorado National–Kansas.
