Matthijs Accama
Matthijs Accama (1702–1783) was a Dutch painter. The brother of Bernardus, he was born at Leeuwarden Leeuwarden (; fy, Ljouwert, longname=yes /; Town Frisian: ''Liwwadden''; Leeuwarder dialect: ''Leewarden'') is a city and municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 123,107 (2019). It is the provincial capital and seat of the ..., in 1702. He went to Italy, where he copied, with considerable talent, several pictures of the ancient masters. He died at his native town in 1783. Bernard Accama
Bernardus Accama (1697–1756) was an 18th-century Netherlands, Dutch historical and portrait painter. He was born in Friesland, possibly in Burum, Friesland, Burum, the son of Aeltje Boetes Nievelt and Simon Accama, the local church minister. He was christened on July 12, 1697 at Burum. He lived much of his life in Leeuwarden. He worked for and executed commissions for William IV, Prince of Orange. However, much of his work was lost during the Campaigns of 1795 in the French Revolutionary Wars, Revolution of 1795. He was the brother and instructor of the painter Matthijs Accama. Leeuwarden (; fy, Ljouwert, longname=yes /; Town Frisian: ''Liwwadden''; Leeuwarder dialect: ''Leewarden'') is a city and municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 123,107 (2019). It is the provincial capital and seat of the Provincial Council of Friesland. It is located about 50 km west of Groningen and 110 km north east from the Dutch capital Amsterdam (as the crow flies). The region has been continuously inhabited since the 10th century. It came to be known as Leeuwarden in the early 9th century AD and was granted city privileges in 1435. It is the main economic hub of Friesland, situated in a green and water-rich environment.
