Matthew Teague
Matthew Nathaniel Teague (born October 22, 1958) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the tenth round of the 1980 NFL Draft. He was also drafted by the Falcons in the seventh round of the 1980 NFL Supplemental Draft. He was also a member of the Ottawa Rough Riders, Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He played college football at Prairie View A&M University. Early years Teague attended Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he played mostly in the offensive line. He also practiced baseball. He accepted football scholarship from Prairie View A&M University, where he became a four-year starter at left defensive end. His teams won only 12 games in 4 seasons, including going 0-11 in 1979. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). The 1984 CFL season is considered to be the 31st season in modern-day Canadian football, although it is officially the 27th Canadian Football League season. 1982 NFL Season
The 1982 NFL season was the 63rd regular season of the National Football League. A 57-day-long players' strike reduced the 1982 season from a 16-game schedule per team to an abbreviated nine game schedule. Because of the shortened season, the NFL adopted a special 16-team playoff tournament; division standings were ignored for seeding (although each division sent at least two teams, except the NFC West which had only one). Eight teams from each conference were seeded 1–8 based on their regular season records. Two teams qualified for the playoffs despite losing records (the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions). In the National Football League, training camp refers to the time before the season commences. During this time, teams sometimes congregate at an outside location, usually a university, to conduct training camp for at least the first few weeks. This is similar to baseball's spring training. Training camp is used in several different ways. New players and coaches use it to acclimate themselves to new teammates and systems. For younger players, it serves as a period of evaluation; for veterans, it is time to return to form. Training camp is divided into several different components. The first is scrimmages. 1980 NFL Season
The 1980 NFL season was the 61st regular season of the National Football League. Prior to the season in March 1980, fellow NFL owners voted against the proposed move by the Raiders from Oakland, California to Los Angeles. Raiders team owner Al Davis along with the Los Angeles Coliseum sued the NFL charging that they had violated antitrust laws. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played.
