Matthew Porretta
Matthew Charles Porretta (born May 29, 1965) is an American television-, voice-, and film-actor, known for his appearances in ''Wings'', ''Beverly Hills, 90210'', and '' Robin Hood: Men in Tights''. He has also appeared on Broadway and in video games, where he is known for his roles as the titular character in ''Alan Wake'' and its sequel, ''Alan Wake II'', plus as Dr. Darling in ''Control''. Life and career Porretta was born in Darien, Connecticut, into a show-biz family: His father, Frank Porretta, was a famous opera-singer and musical-theater actor. His mother, Roberta, is also a trained singer and was Miss Ohio 1956. By the age of 25, Porretta was already a veteran of Broadway and a student at the Manhattan School of Music. Darien ( ) is a coastal town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. With a population of 21,499 and a land area of just under 13 square miles, it is the smallest town on Connecticut's Gold Coast. ''South Beach'' is an American action/adventure television series that aired on NBC from June 6 to August 12, 1993, during the summer of 1993. The series was created by Dick Wolf and Robert DeLaurentis and starred Yancy Butler, who had been the lead actress a year earlier in another failed Wolf/DeLaurentis series, '' Mann & Machine''. Set in South Beach, Florida, the ''Modesty Blaise''-inspired storyline had Butler playing Kate Patrick, a thief who, along with her partner Vernon, is given the choice of going to jail or working for a government agency run by a man named Roberts (played by John Glover). The series saw Kate and Vernon (played by Eagle-Eye Cherry) take on various missions for Roberts, which usually called on the duo to make use of their skills as thieves.
