Matthew K. Thomas
Matthew K. Thomas (born 2 November 1948) is the son of Kurien Thomas and the present Chairman of the Fellowship of the Pentecostal Churches in India. He is the present President of Central India Theological Seminary and also the President of Central India Outreach. He was also Secretary of the Pentecostal World Fellowship and presently serves on its Advisory Committee. Early life Matthew K. Thomas was born to Kurien Thomas and Annamma Thomas on 2 November 1948. In his autobiography, Kurien Thomas mentions the events surrounding Matthew's birth: On the 2nd of November, 1948, our second son was born. He was delivered in the house attended by a village midwife. One of the believers, a sister, was also present. Fellowship Of The Pentecostal Churches In India
The Fellowship of the Pentecostal Churches in India has around 1,100 churches in its network with its headquarters at Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh, India. The fellowship unanimously re-elected Dr. Matthew K. Thomas as chairman during the October Fellowship Conference in 2008. The Fellowship is regarded as one of the largest independent Pentecostal churches in India. History As Pentecostal churches continued to spring all over India, the graduates of Central India Theological Seminary who worked mainly in the north, began to feel the need to form a Fellowship for closer fellowship. So, at the 1966 Annual Convention of the Pentecostal Church at Itarsi, the Christian workers united to form the Fellowship of the Pentecostal Churches of God in India (FPCGI). Pastor
A pastor (abbreviated as "Pr" or "Ptr" , or "Ps" ) is the leader of a Christian congregation who also gives advice and counsel to people from the community or congregation. In Lutheranism, Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy and Anglicanism, pastors are always ordained. In Methodism, pastors may be either licensed or ordained. Kurien Thomas
Kurien Thomas (1922–2000) or Kurian Thomas was pioneer pentecostal missionary to Central India. Pioneering works He hailed from Kerala. In the beginning he was a missionary from the India Pentecostal Church of God but later formed a new organization called the Fellowship of the Pentecostal Churches in India along with other Christian leaders. He authored several books originally in Hindi, English, and Malayalam. He was the pastor of the Pentecostal Church at Itarsi, Founder/Chairman and later Patron of the Fellowship of the Pentecostal Churches in India, and Principal of the Central India Bible College, estd. in 1962 (now Central India Theological Seminary) for several years. Central India Theological Seminary
The roots of Central India Theological Seminary go back to 1962 when Dr. Kurien Thomas founded Bharosa Bible College at Itarsi, Central India. It was later renamed as Central India Bible College and then raised to a research institution in 1999 with the name ''Central India Theological Seminary'' by Dr. Matthew K. Thomas. The seminary provides residential theological education at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels in English and Hindi. The Dr. Kurien Thomas Study and Research Center at Central India Theological Seminary initiated the Master of Theology program in Christian Apologetics in 2013. The Seminary began its Distance Education department in 2010. The Seminary offers courses accredited by Asia Theological Association. The Pentecostal World Fellowship is a fellowship of Evangelical Pentecostal churches and denominations from across the world. The headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its leader is William Wilson (Tulsa, OK). History The Pentecostal World Fellowship was founded in 1947 at Zürich, Switzerland, during a conference of Pentecostal leaders. This meeting was organized by Swiss pastor Leonard Steiner, who was assisted by David du Plessis. Since then, the Conference has been conducted in various major cities around the world, every three years. In 2001, the conference in Los Angeles, California, was convened in celebration of the Azusa Street Revival. In 2019, William Wilson became Chairman of the organization. Hoshangabad
Hoshangabad, officially known as Narmadapuram is a city and municipality in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It serves as the headquarters of both Hoshangabad district and Narmadapuram division.
