Matt Smith (illustrator)
Matt Smith is an illustrator based in Cambridge, Massachusetts who is best known for his work in such children's magazines as ''Cricket'', '' Highlights for Children'', and '' Muse'', as well as the graphic novel edition of Kate DiCamillo's '' The Tale of Despereaux''. His original graphic novel, ''Barbarian Lord'', was published in 2014 and reviewed favorably by '' Publishers Weekly'' and ''Kirkus Reviews'', which called it a ''Game of Thrones'' for younger readers. He illustrated Matt Kindt's '' Folklords'' (2020). Cambridge ( ) is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. Minibosses
Minibosses is an American progressive rock band originally from Northampton, Massachusetts and now located in Phoenix, Arizona. They are known for their video game music covers, which are instrumental rock variations of the theme music from classic Nintendo video games such as '' Mega Man'', '' Metroid'', and '' Castlevania''. The ''Phoenix New Times'' awarded Minibosses their ''best cover band'' award in 2006. History From 1997 to 1999, guitarist Aaron Burke and drummer Matt Wood played in Jenova Project, one of the earliest video game cover bands, along with other friends from the same dorm at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In January 2000, Burke and Wood recruited bassist Ben Baraldi to form Minibosses. Ain't It Cool News (AICN) is an entertainment news website founded by Harry Knowles and run by his sister Dannie Knowles since September 2017, dedicated to news, rumors, and reviews of upcoming and current films, television, and comic book projects, with an emphasis on science fiction, superhero, fantasy, horror, and action genres. History Ain't It Cool News was launched in 1996, and its name is attributed to a quote from John Travolta's character in the film '' Broken Arrow''. Knowles began surfing the internet while recovering from a debilitating accident in 1994. He spent a lot of time in newsgroups exchanging gossip and rumors about upcoming films, eventually creating his own website as part of his internet hobby. He designed the Easthampton mural in the Easthampton, Massachusetts Cottage Street Cultural District, dedicated in June, 2008. Pappalardo and R. Sturgis Cunningham perform as the guitar-drum duo The Demographic. He has published an illustrated novel, a collection of comics, and an illustrated collection of essays. The Xeric Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation based in Northampton, Massachusetts, which for twenty years awarded self-publishing grants to comic book creators, as well as qualified charitable and nonprofit organizations. The Xeric Foundation was established by Peter Laird, co-creator of the ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles''.
