Matthew Tyler Murphy (December 29, 1929 – June 15, 2018), known as Matt "Guitar" Murphy, was an American blues guitarist. He was associated with Memphis Slim, The Blues Brothers and Howlin' Wolf. Early life Murphy was born in Sunflower, Mississippi, and was educated in Memphis, Tennessee, where his father worked at the Peabody Hotel. Murphy learned to play guitar when he was a child. Career In 1948, Murphy moved to Chicago, where he joined the Howlin' Wolf Band, which at the time featured Little Junior Parker. In 1952, Murphy recorded with Little Junior Parker and Ike Turner, resulting in the release, “You’re My Angel”/“Bad Women, Bad Whiskey”(Modern 864), credited to Little Junior Parker and the Blue Flames. Matt Murphy is a Canadian musician and actor. He is perhaps best known as the vocalist and guitarist of 1990s band The Super Friendz. Music career Murphy first achieved notability for his role as leader of the mid-1990s Halifax band The Super Friendz, a power pop act that became a prominent part of the Halifax music scene, which at that time was often referred to as "Seattle north". Murphy formed the band with fellow King's College students Charles Austin (bass) and Drew Yamada (guitar). The three shared singing and songwriting duties, as was common in the democratically oriented scene at the time, but Murphy emerged as the standout performer. After the Super Friendz dissolved in 1997, Murphy relocated to Toronto and formed a new band, The Flashing Lights. Matt Murphy (born March 11, 1970) was a Republican former member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 27th district from 2007 until his resignation in September 2016. The 27th district includes parts of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Inverness, Palatine, Wheeling, Prospect Heights and South Barrington. On August 11, 2016, Murphy announced his resignation from the Illinois Senate to take a position with Mac Strategies Group. Early life and career Murphy grew up in Mt. In February 2009 he was appointed player/assistant manager of United Counties League club Daventry United. "All That" Matt Murphy (born 1979) is an American professional wrestler. During his career, he wrestled for numerous promotions, in briefs, including Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan, and held the World League Wrestling Tag Team Titles on three occasions. His career was cut short due to injuries sustained in a car accident, but after he left the wrestling business, Murphy authored the Amazon Kindle autobiography "The Somebody Obsession: A Nobody's Desperate Journey to Stardom". He returned to the ring in 2011 for Kansas City's Metro Pro Wrestling. He then became an employee at a sports card shop in Florida.
