Matt Macey
Matthew Ryan Macey (born 9 September 1994) is an English professional Association football, footballer who plays as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper for Portsmouth F.C., Portsmouth. Career Early career Macey started to play youth football for Avon Arsenal Comets. In 2007, he applied but was rejected from Bristol Rovers F.C., Bristol Rovers' Centre of Excellence. Macey was also invited to train with Cardiff City but felt the travel commitment was too much. He then later went on to represent the youth teams of Bath City F.C., Bath City and Yate Town F.C., Yate Town before Bristol Rovers signed him in 2009 before signing him as a full-time scholar in 2011. He first appeared in the Bristol Rovers squad for their EFL League Two, League Two fixture against Torquay United F.C., Torquay United in March 2012 but never made a first team (association football)#F, first-team appearance for Bristol Rovers. Bath, Somerset
Bath () is a city in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary area in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. At the 2021 Census, the population was 101,557. Bath is in the valley of the River Avon, west of London and southeast of Bristol. Crawley () is a large town and borough in West Sussex, England. It is south of London, north of Brighton and Hove, and north-east of the county town of Chichester. Yeovil ( ) is a town and civil parish in the district of South Somerset, England. The population of Yeovil at the last census (2011) was 45,784. More recent estimates show a population of 48,564. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. A loan fee can be arranged by the parent club as well as them asking to pay a percentage of their wages. Association football Players may be loaned out to other clubs for several reasons. Most commonly, young prospects will be loaned to a club in a lower league in order to gain invaluable first team experience. In this instance, the parent club may continue to pay the player's wages in full or in part.
