Matt Lengel
Matthew Lengel (born December 27, 1990) is a former American football tight end. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He played college football at Eastern Kentucky and Northeastern University. He also played for the New England Patriots, where he was a member of the Super Bowl LI-winning team, as well as the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and Indianapolis Colts. College career Lengel redshirted his freshman year in 2009 at Northeastern University before transferring to Eastern Kentucky the following year, after Northeastern shut down its football program. He played in 37 games over five seasons (2010–2014), totaling 33 catches for 361 yards. He suffered a torn ACL in the 2012 season opener and missed the entire season. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic.
