Matt Joyce (baseball)
Matthew Ryan Joyce (born August 3, 1984) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. Between 2008 and 2021, he spent 14 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), playing for the Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, and Philadelphia Phillies. Joyce and his sister were raised by a single father in Tampa, Florida, and he frequently attended Rays games at Tropicana Field. College recruiters from a variety of Florida schools took interest after seeing Joyce play baseball at Armwood High School, and he chose to attend Florida Southern College. The Tigers took interest in Joyce when they played a spring training exhibition game against Florida Southern in 2005. He was selected by the Tigers in the 12th round of the 2005 MLB Draft. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). 2020 National League Wild Card Series
The 2020 National League Wild Card Series were four best-of-three-games series in Major League Baseball (MLB) to determine participating teams in the 2020 National League Division Series. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, MLB expanded the postseason instead of holding the regular Wild Card Game for each league. Edwin Jackson Jr. (born September 9, 1983) is a German-born American former professional baseball pitcher. An exhibition game (also known as a friendly, a scrimmage, a demonstration, a preseason game, a warmup match, or a preparation match, depending at least in part on the sport) is a sporting event whose prize money and impact on the player's or the team's rankings is either zero or otherwise greatly reduced.
