Matt Hullum
Matthew Jay Hullum (born September 29, 1974) is an American director, producer, writer, actor and visual effects supervisor living in Austin, Texas. He is one of five co-founders and former CEO of production company Rooster Teeth, which specializes in online content, including live-action series, podcasts, animation and machinima, an art using game engines to create films. Alongside longtime business partner Burnie Burns, he was named one of Variety's top Digital Entertainment Execs to Watch in 2018. Early life Matthew Jay Hullum was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 29, 1974, to librarian Cheri Johnston (born 1945) and sports journalist and freelance writer Everett Hullum (1942–2015). RTX (event)
RTX is a series of annual gaming and Internet conventions created by Rooster Teeth held in Austin, Texas and for a period of time also Sydney and London, England. Starting as a small community gathering of 600 people in 2011, RTX significantly expanded in its following years, housing an estimated 62,000 people in 2017. RTX has gained attention for its "celebration of that convergence of gaming and Internet culture." In 2016, Tech Crunch described it as " SXSW meets Comic Con." ''Lazer Team'' is a 2015 American Science fiction film, science fiction action comedy film directed, produced, and co-written by Matt Hullum. The first feature film produced by Rooster Teeth, it stars Burnie Burns, Gavin Free, Michael Jones (actor), Michael Jones, Colton Dunn, Allie DeBerry, and Alan Ritchson. The film follows the Lazer Team, a group of four who find themselves responsible for the fate of the planet upon discovering an alien crash site containing a battle suit. The film was produced by Hullum, Burns, and Doreen Copeland. Burns and Hullum also co-wrote the script, alongside Rooster Teeth employees Chris Demarais and Josh Flanagan. ''RWBY'' (pronounced "Ruby") is an American Anime-influenced animation, anime-influenced Computer animation, computer-animated web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors (called "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses") to protect their world from monsters called Grimm. The name ''RWBY'' is derived from the four main protagonists' forenames: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang, and their respective theme colors (red, white, black and yellow). The series is produced primarily by using the machinima technique of synchronizing video footage from video game to pre-recorded dialogue and other audio. ''A Heist with Markiplier'' is a 2019 interactive comedy heist television special written and directed by Mark Fischbach, better known by his online pseudonym Markiplier. The film stars Fischbach, as well as Rosanna Pansino, Matthew Patrick, and Chance Morris in major roles. It follows Fischbach on a heist with his assistant ( the audience's lens) that goes wrong.
