Matt Hodgson
Matt Hodgson (born ) is an Australian sports administrator and former professional rugby union player for the Western Force and the Wallabies, the Australian national team. He is currently head of rugby at Global Rapid Rugby which launched its Asia-Pacific Showcase competition in 2019. During his rugby career Hodgson won eleven caps for Australia and was the first Western Force player to earn 100 caps for the club. He captained the Force for many years, including in 2014 when the club had the most successful season in their Super Rugby history with nine wins. Hodgson's leadership and playing form in that season earned him a recall to the Wallabies for the test series against France. Global Rapid Rugby
Global Rapid Rugby was an international rugby union competition that launched a showcase series for six professional teams in 2019, played in locations across the Asia-Pacific region. Rapid Rugby matches are slightly shorter than the traditional 80 minutes and have other variations from standard rugby laws that are intended to increase the speed of the game. The 2020 Global Rapid Rugby season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic after only one completed round of competition. Brumbies
The ACT Brumbies (known from 2005–2022 as simply the Brumbies) is an Australian professional rugby union team based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), The team competes in Super Rugby and named for the brumby, feral horses which inhabit the capital's hinterland. Subiaco Oval
Subiaco Oval (; nicknamed Subi) was a sports stadium in Perth, Western Australia, located in the suburb of Subiaco. It was opened in 1908 and closed in 2017 after the completion of the new Perth Stadium in Burswood. 2004–05 World Sevens Series
The 2004–05 Sevens World Series was the sixth edition of the global circuit for men's national rugby sevens teams, organised by the International Rugby Board since 1999–2000. The defending series champions New Zealand retained their title by winning the 2004–05 series. Calendar Competition format All tournaments in the 2004–05 series were played as a standard 16-team event, beginning with the pool stage before progressing to a knockout stage to decide the tournament winners. Pool stage For the pool stage, teams were divided into 4 pools of 4 teams and a round-robin was played within each pool. Sydney Uni Football Club
The Sydney University Football Club, founded in 1863, is the oldest club now playing rugby union in Australia, although this date is disputed by historian Tom Hickie who argues that it was 1865. Sydney Uni was a member of the inaugural Sydney club competition in 1874, along with the Balmain Rugby Union Football Club, Newington College and The King's School.
