Matt Fulks
Matt Fulks is an American sports journalist, author, broadcaster and feature writer. He has written for Kansas City's Metro Sports, and his work has appeared in various newspapers and publications including ''The Kansas City Star'' and ''USA Today''s ''Sports Weekly.'' Professional life Fulks started his journalism career while attending Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, as a play-by-play broadcaster on radio, a producer for WSMV-TV, sports director for WAKM radio and a sports writer with the '' Review-Appeal''. After leaving the newspaper business, Fulks began working as a freelance writer and author. He has written more than 25 books with various sports figures including Marcus Allen, Frank White, Tom Flores, and broadcasters Max Falkenstien, Fred White and Denny Matthews. In Broadcasting of sports events, sports broadcasting, a sports commentator (also known as sports announcer or sportscaster) provides a real time (media), real-time commentary of a game or event, usually during a live television, live broadcast, traditionally delivered in the historical present tense. Radio was the first medium for sports broadcasts, and radio commentators must describe all aspects of the action to listeners who cannot see it for themselves. Frank White (baseball)
Frank White Jr. (born September 4, 1950) is an American politician and former professional baseball player, who spent 18 years with the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). After his playing career, he has worked as a professional baseball coach and sports commentator, and has been elected to public office in Jackson County, Missouri. Early years White was born in Greenville, Mississippi. After attending Longview Community College in Lee's Summit, Missouri, he rose through Minor League Baseball to reach the big leagues. Within the Royals' farm system, he played for the rookie league Gulf Coast League Royals (1971), Class A San Jose Bees (1972), Class AA Jacksonville Suns (1972), and Class AAA Omaha Royals (1973). Overland Park ( ) is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, Kansas, it is one of four principal cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area and the most populous suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 197,238. History In 1905, William B. Strang Jr. arrived and began to plot subdivisions along an old military roadway, which later became the city's principal thoroughfare. Denny Matthews
Denny Matthews (born November 14, 1942) is an American sportscaster, best known as a play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball's Kansas City Royals since the team's inception in . Early history Matthews grew up in Bloomington, Illinois and attended Illinois Wesleyan University, where he played baseball and football, and belonged to the Sigma Chi fraternity. He worked for local radio and television stations in Peoria and St. Louis before his hiring by the Royals. Broadcast career Matthews has broadcast for the Royals since their inception in 1969, when he was the sidekick to Bud Blattner. Blattner retired in 1974, and Matthews has been the Royals' top broadcaster since then. From 1974 to 1998 – a stretch that includes the best seasons in the Royals' history – Matthews was paired with Fred White.
