Matt Edwards (pool Player)
Matt Edwards (born 17 November 1987 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand player of pool. Edwards is from Kaiapoi, North Canterbury. He started playing Pool at the age of 12. He is considered New Zealand’s greatest ever pool player, being a record twenty times New Zealand pool champion. In 2019 he became the first ever New Zealander to be invited to play in the 24 player invitational World Pool Masters held in Gibraltar where he made it to the quarter-finals. Career Edwards made his World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) debut in 2012 with the 2012 WPA World Nine-ball Championship the first New Zealander to qualify in the World Championship. At the event, Edwards defeated American Shane Van Boening 9–7 after trailing 1–5. He lost in the last-32 to the eventual winner Darren Appleton 11–10. Nine-ball (sometimes written 9-ball) is a discipline of the cue sport pool. The game's origins are traceable to the 1920s in the United States. It is played on a rectangular billiard table with at each of the four corners and in the middle of each long side. Using a cue stick, players must strike the white cue ball to nine colored billiard balls, hitting them in ascending numerical order. An individual game (or ) is won by the player pocketing the . All Japan Championship (9-Ball)
The All Japan Championship (also: ''Japan Championship'') is an annual international pool tournament founded by Kazuo Fujima in 1967, when there was an all-around completion with multiple disciplines. In the Men's tournament the current discipline is Ten-ball, however for the Women's tournament it is played in the discipline of Nine-ball. The All Japan Championship is currently sanctioned by the JPBA (Japan Professional Pocket Billiard Association). The first 20 years only held men's competitions. It was not until the 21st competition in 1988 that the Women's event was established. Most of the competition period is after the middle of November each year. This is the most famous international large-scale pool event held in Japan, and one of the oldest tournaments in pool. Takeshi Okumura has won the men's tournament the most times, sixteen. Alexander Kazakis (Born July 16, 1991) is a Greek professional pool player. Kazakis is a former European 10-ball champion, and regular 9-ball player. In 2018, he was the number one ranked player by the World Pool-Billiard Association. Career In 2016, Kazakis won the Kremlin Cup, without losing a game. Kazakis reached the semi-final of the 2018 WPA World Nine-ball Championship; before losing to eventual winner Joshua Filler on a final frame decider. Kazakis won the 2018 Austria Open event on the Euro Tour, defeating Denis Grabe in the final 9–6. Konrad Juszczyszyn (born 28 November 1993) is a Polish professional pool player. Juszczyszyn won the 9-Ball event at the 2018 European Pool Championship. Christopher Melling (born 27 January 1979) is an English professional pool and snooker player and former world number 1 at World Rules British Eight-Ball. He won the WEPF World Eightball Championship twice, in 2001 and 2003. He was ranked #1 in 2003 by the World Eightball Pool Federation. Melling has also twice won the International Pool Masters (2001 and 2002) and the European Professional title (2002). He was the first player to win two International Tour events back to back. Jayson Shaw (born 13 September 1990 in Glasgow) is a Scottish pool player. In 2010, Shaw was a WPA World Blackball Champion. In 2016, Shaw won the 25th International Challenge of Champions event. The 2017 World Games ( pl, Igrzyska Światowe 2017), commonly known as Wrocław 2017 (german: Breslau 2017; sli, Brassel 2017), was the tenth World Games, a major international multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, that were not contested in the Olympic Games, held from 20 to 30 July 2017 in Wrocław, Poland. Chang Jung-lin
Chang Jung-lin (born May 2, 1985) is a Taiwanese 8-ball and Nine-ball pool player. He became WPA World Eight-ball Champion in 2012 and won the silver medal at the 2013 World Games for Nine-ball. Jun-Lin is a former world number 1, having done so first after winning WPA World Eight-ball Championship in 2012. He studied at Chinese Culture University and is currently married.
