Matt Clare
Matt Clare (born May 25, 1988 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is an American soccer player who last played for Florida Tropics SC in the Major Arena Soccer League. Career Youth and Amateur Clare, who did not play college soccer, played with elite youth team Charlotte Soccer, before going on to play for IMG ACADEMY. Professional Clare signed his first professional contract in 2011 when he signed with FC Tampa Bay of the North American Soccer League, having trialed with the team during pre-season. He made his professional debut on May 11, coming on as a late substitute in a game against FC Edmonton. Tampa Bay announced that the club exercised its 2012 contract option on Clare on October 5, 2011. The new contract also includes a club option for the 2013 season. Clare went on to play for the Wichita Wings in the Major Indoor Soccer League and the Wichita B-52s in the MASL. Fort Lauderdale () is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean. American Professional Soccer League
The American Professional Soccer League (APSL) was a professional men's soccer league with teams from the United States and later Canada. It was formed in 1990 by the merger of the third American Soccer League with the Western Soccer League. It was the first outdoor soccer league to feature teams from throughout the United States since the demise of the North American Soccer League in 1984. The league was sanctioned as Division II in the United States soccer league system but was the country's ''de facto'' top professional soccer league until 1995. In 1993, the APSL applied for the vacant Division I role but lost out to Major League Soccer who would begin play in 1996. For its final two seasons in 1995 and 1996, the APSL changed its name to the A-League. John Clare is an American soccer coach. He played professionally in the American Professional Soccer League and National Professional Soccer League. Clare, the father of Matt Clare, attended the College of Boca Raton, playing on the men's soccer team from 1986 to 1988. In 1989, Clare turned professional with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the American Soccer League. At the end of the ASL season, Clare moved to Germany where he trained, but played no league matches, with the Werder Bremen reserve team. He was back with the Strikers in 1990 as the team played in the American Professional Soccer League which was formed by the merger of the American Soccer League and Western Soccer League that year.
