Matt Bowden
Matt "Starboy" Bowden is a rock musician and activist from New Zealand. Previously known as the "Godfather of the legal highs industry", he is credited with creating non-lethal, non-addictive party pills as safer substitutes for methamphetamine addicts, and successfully lobbying in New Zealand for a quality control and regulatory system for psychoactive substances. He performs musically as Starboy and produces progressive rock music with elaborate theatrical stage shows, and produces short films, most notably Starboy Eternity. His musical single ''Flying'', released 29 October 2012, debuted at number five in the NZ Single charts and number 29 in the New Zealand Top 40 Singles charts. As of July 2016, Matt Bowden relocated to Thailand, and then Europe to continue working in regulatory development after stating an intention to develop safer alternatives to liquor led to a rapid reversal in New Zealand's legislation and an end to his business. The structure of 5F-PB-22 appears to have been designed with an understanding of structure–activity relationships within the indole class of cannabinoids. Pharmacology 5F-PB-22 acts as a full agonist with a binding affinity of 0.468 nM at CB1 and 0.633 nM at CB2 cannabinoid receptors. Legal status As of October 2015 5F-PB-22 is a controlled substance in China. In January 2014, 5F-PB-22 was designated as a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States after several deaths were associated with its use. Methylone (also known as "3,4-methylenedioxy-''N''-methylcathinone", "MDMC", "βk-MDMA" and by the slang term "M1") is an empathogen and stimulant psychoactive drug. It is a member of the substituted amphetamine, substituted cathinone and substituted methylenedioxyphenethylamine classes. Methylone is the substituted cathinone analog of MDMA and the 3,4-methylenedioxy analog of methcathinone. The only structural difference of methylone with respect to MDMA is the substitution of 2 hydrogen atoms by 1 oxygen atom in the β position of the phenethylamine core, forming a ketone group. SDB-005
SDB-005 is an indazole-based synthetic cannabinoid that has been sold online as a designer drug. It is presumed to be an agonist of the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. SDB-005 is the indazole core analog of PB-22 where the 8-hydroxyquinoline has also been replaced with a naphthalene group. The code number SDB-005 was originally used for a different compound, the ''N''-phenyl instead of ''N''-benzyl analogue of SDB-006. This compound is a potent agonist of the CB1 receptor (Ki = 21 nM) and CB2 receptor (Ki = 140 nM). However, SDB-005 was subsequently used as the name for the indazole-3-carboxylate compound mentioned above when it was sold in Europe as a designer drug, and was entered into the EMCDDA synthetic drug database under this name. APICA (2NE1, SDB-001, ''N''-(1-adamantyl)-1-pentyl-1''H''-indole-3-carboxamide) is an indole based drug that acts as a potent agonist for the cannabinoid receptors. It had never previously been reported in the scientific or patent literature, and was first identified by laboratories in Japan in March 2012 as an ingredient in synthetic cannabis smoking blends, along with its indazole derivative APINACA (sold as "AKB48"). Structurally it closely resembles cannabinoid compounds from patenWO 2003/035005but with an indole core instead of indazole, and a simple pentyl chain on the indole 1-position. PB-22 has an EC50 of 5.1 nM for human CB1 receptors, and 37 nM for human CB2 receptors.
