Aaron Matson
Aaron Matson (1770 – July 18, 1855) was a United States representative from New Hampshire. He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He moved to Cheshire County, New Hampshire, where he was the county judge of probate. Matson was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives 1806–1808, 1810–1814, 1817, and 1818, and a member of the Executive Council of New Hampshire, Executive Council 1819–1821. He was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Seventeenth Congress and reelected as an Adams-Clay Republican to the 18th United States Congress, Eighteenth Congress (March 4, 1821 – March 3, 1825). After leaving Congress, he was again a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1827 and 1828. He died in Newport (city), Vermont, Newport, Vermont in 1855. Michael Matson
Michael "Mike" Matson (born November 5, 1984) is an American ocean rower and author who holds 2 Guinness World Records. 2016 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge – American Oarsmen Michael and fellow Rice University Rowing club coach, David Alviar, entered the 2015 Atlantic Rowing Race (Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge) as an awareness campaign to fund the first rowing boathouse within the City of Houston. The duo worked in conjunction with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Texas Dragon Boat Association to successfully construct Houston's first boathouse. Their boat was named Anne, in honor of Anne McCormick Sullivan, a firefighter friend of Michael who gave her life in the tragic Southwest Inn fire. Unfortunately, Michael tore his Patellar tendon, and the team delayed to the 2016 race. William Matson
William Matson (born Wilhelm Mattson) (October 18, 1849 in Lysekil – October 11, 1917) was a Swedish-born American shipping executive. He was the founder of Matson Navigation Company. Early life Wilhelm Matson said he was born on October 18, 1849, in an area noted for fishing and sailing, Lysekil in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. He was orphaned during his childhood. He attended public schools in Sweden, then took an intermission of a year to go to sea at the early age of ten. Career Matson came to New York City in 1863 as a cabin boy, at the age of fourteen. Working his way up in the maritime world, he arrived in San Francisco, California after a trip around Cape Horn in 1867. At the end of two years he was captain of a vessel, engaged chiefly in carrying coal to the Spreckels Sugar Company refinery. Victor Matson
Victor Stanley Matson (1895–1972) was one of the California Plein-Air Painters and he was active from the 1920s until his death. He was an active organizer for a number of Southern California arts organizations and served as President of the historic California Art Club from 1961 to 1962. His work was widely exhibited with the Southland art clubs in an era when few galleries were interested in Plein-Air landscapes and he had a solo exhibition at Los Angeles City Hall in 1964. Childhood and Youth Matson was born and grew up in Salt Lake City, part of the large community of people of Scandinavian descent that had immigrated in the era of Mormon settlement in the 19th century. Taylor Matson (born September 16, 1988) is an American professional ice hockey player currently playing for HV71 in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He was drafted 176th overall by Vancouver Canucks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to turning professional, Matson spent four years at the University of Minnesota and in the American Hockey League (AHL) and ECHL. Playing career Matson was a two sport athlete at the Academy of Holy Angels, playing both tennis and ice hockey. James Randel "Randy" Matson (born March 5, 1945) is an American track and field athlete who mostly competed in the shot put. Matson won a silver medal at the 1964 and a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics.
