Mats Foyer
Mats Olof Foyer (born 3 November 1954) was the ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden accredited to and resident in the People's Democratic Republic of Korea (North Korea), a position he held 2005-2010. Education Foyer has an LL.B. and BA from the University of Stockholm and speaks Swedish, English, Russian and French. Diplomatic career From 2002-2005 Foyer was minister in charge of political affairs at the Swedish Embassy in Beijing. 2009 Imprisonment Of American Journalists By North Korea
On March 17, 2009, North Korean soldiers detained two American journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling, who were working for the U.S. independent cable television network Current TV (defunct since August 2013), after they crossed into North Korea from China without a visa. They were found guilty of illegal entry and sentenced to twelve years' hard labor in June 2009. North Korean leader Kim Jong-il pardoned the two on August 5, 2009, the day after former U.S. President Bill Clinton arrived in the country on a publicly unannounced visit. Barbro Elm
Barbro Elm (born 1959) is a Swedish diplomat of Iraqi–Iranian descent who formerly became the ambassador to Argentina from 2016 to 2019, and North Korea from 2010 to 2012. She has been assignted to Swedish embassies in several countries which included in Dhaka, Havana, Athens, Madrid and Bratislava.
