Matthew "Matt" Matros (born May 13, 1977) is a professional poker player and author from Brooklyn, New York, who has won three World Series of Poker events. Matros holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College. He is the author of the book ''The Making Of A Poker Player: How An Ivy League Math Geek Learned To Play Championship Poker'', and was a poker coach on the now defunct poker site, CardRunners. Larisa Grigorievna Matros (russian: Лариса Григорьевна Матрос, ) is a philosopher and writer of fiction. Life and career Matros was born in 1938 in Odesa, Ukrainian SSR, Ukraine, where she graduated from the Law Department of the Odesa University, Odesa State University in 1963. The first steps in her career were defined by the legal profession—a job in law enforcement from 1960 to 1962 and a job as a legal adviser in the Trade Company from 1962 to 1964. After moving to Akademgorodok in 1964, L. Matros’ career took a turn, from practicing lawyer to scientist.
