Matraka
Matraka is the stage name of Gerardo Reyes Toledo, a Mexican drag queen and contestant on the first season of ''Drag Race Mexico''. Matraka is from Purísima del Rincón, Guanajato, and identifies as Indigenous Mexican. Early life Matraka was born in Purísima del Rincón in 1998. His father is a cultural manager in Guanajuato and brought Reyes to Baile folklórico performances starting at an early age. In an interview with ''Periódico Correo'', Matraka said, "From the age of 5, my father regularly took me to cultural events such as folkloric ballet meetings in Guanajuato. Notably, an event named Viva la Magia, later known as Viva la Banda, left a significant impression on me. These were international events, exposing me to diverse perspectives on art and culture." Drag Race México Season 1
The first season of ''Drag Race México'' premiered on 22 June 2023. The season aired on MTV and Paramount+ in Mexico and Latin America and WOW Presents Plus internationally. The season was confirmed by World of Wonder on 8 August 2022. The winner of the first season of ''Drag Race México'' was Cristian Peralta, with Gala Varo, Matraka and Regina Voce as the runners-up. Lady Kero was named Miss Congeniality. Production World of Wonder, the production company behind ''RuPaul's Drag Race'', posted three casting calls on social media on 8 August 2022. The casting calls were for new potential ''Drag Race'' adaptations in Brazil, Germany, and Mexico. RuPaul's DragCon LA is an annual expo of drag culture held in Los Angeles billed as a "convention that celebrates 'the art of drag, queer culture and self-expression for all'", which debuted in 2015. Its sister event is RuPaul's DragCon NYC started in 2017, and is considered the "world's largest celebration of drag culture." Ratchet (instrument)
A ratchet or rattle, more specifically, cog rattle is a musical instrument of the percussion family and a warning/signaling device. It operates on the principle of the ratchet device, using a gearwheel and a stiff board mounted on a handle, which rotates freely. Variants include the gragger ( yi, גראַגער) used in Judaism, the rapach, and the raganella. Method of playing The player holds the handle and swings the whole mechanism around. Serape
The serape or jorongo is a long blanket-like shawl/cloak, often brightly colored and fringed at the ends, worn in Mexico, especially by men. The spelling of the word sarape (or zarape) is the accepted form in Mexico and in other Spanish-speaking countries.
