Matic Ivačič
Matic Ivačič (born 8 September 1993) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Slovenia. He is a four time national champion. Honours In 2020, Ivačič became the Slovenian National Champion after winning the Slovenian Individual Speedway Championship, which ended the 18 year reign of Matej Žagar. Ivačič had previously won the silver medal behind Žagar in 2018 and 2019. In 2021, he became the Slovenia-Slovakia-Hungary National Champion. He has won the Slovenian Championship again in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Brežice
Brežice (; german: Rann ) is a town in eastern Slovenia in the Lower Sava Valley, near the Croatian border. It is the seat of the Municipality of Brežice. It lies in the center of the Brežice Plain ( sl, Brežiško polje), which is part of the larger Krka Flat ( sl, Krška ravan). The area was traditionally divided between Lower Styria (territory on the left bank of the Sava River) and Lower Carniola (territory on the right bank of the Sava River). The entire municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region. Brežice prides itself on a rich historical and cultural heritage. Matej Žagar
Matej Žagar (born 3 April 1983 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider who was won two Individual Speedway European Champion titles in 2004 and 2008. Career In 2002, he won the 2002 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship and the following year made his debut in the Individual World Championship. He began his career in the United Kingdom with the Trelawny Tigers in 2003 before moving to the Reading Racers in 2004 when the Tigers closed. He became a permanent rider in the 2006 Speedway Grand Prix and 2007 Speedway Grand Prix seasons. In the UK he represented Reading, Swindon and Eastbourne before quitting the United Kingdom after an underwhelming 2010 campaign. 2019 Speedway Grand Prix Of Slovenia
The 2019 Slovenian FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the second race of the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on June 1 at the Matija Gubec Stadium in Krško, Slovenia. It was the 14th time that the Speedway Grand Prix of Slovenia had been held but from 2020 was replaced by additional rounds in Poland. Riders First reserve Robert Lambert replaced Greg Hancock. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Matic Ivačič as the wild card, and Nick Škorja and Denis Štojs both as Track Reserves. Results The Grand Prix was won by Bartosz Zmarzlik, who beat Martin Vaculík, Leon Madsen and Patryk Dudek in the final. It was the fourth Grand Prix win of Zmarzlik's career, and his 18-point haul meant he moved to the joint-top of the overall standings with compatriot Dudek. The 2018 Aztorin Slovenian FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the eighth race of the 2018 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on September 7 at the Matija Gubec Stadium in Krško, Slovenia. Riders First reserve Niels-Kristian Iversen replaced the injured Matej Žagar. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Matic Ivačič as the wild card, and Nick Škorja and Denis Štojs both as Track Reserves. Results The Grand Prix was won by Patryk Dudek, who beat defending world champion Jason Doyle, Greg Hancock and Fredrik Lindgren in the final. It was the second Grand Prix win of Dudek's career. Overall leader Tai Woffinden finished 14th, scoring just five points, while his nearest challenger Bartosz Zmarzlik scored 12 points on the way to reaching the semi-finals. The 2016 Slovenian FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the opening race of the 2016 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on April 30 at the Matija Gubec Stadium in Krško, Slovenia. Riders First reserve Fredrik Lindgren replaced Jarosław Hampel, who had injured himself during the 2015 Speedway World Cup and was not fit for the start of the 2016 season. The Speedway Grand Prix Commission also nominated Denis Štojs as the wild card, and Nick Škorja and Matic Ivačič both as Track Reserves. Results The Grand Prix was won by Peter Kildemand, who beat Jason Doyle, Chris Holder and defending world champion Tai Woffinden in the final. Kildemand therefore took an early lead in the world championship standings. Despite finishing third in the final, Holder was second in the standings after outscoring Doyle on the night. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Polonia Bydgoszcz is a Polish sports club based in Bydgoszcz most known for its speedway team ŻKS Polonia Bydgoszcz which currently races in the 1. Liga.
