Mathar Bunnag
Mathar Bunnag ( th, เมธา บุนนาค, born 28 October 1950) is a Thai architect who works in Thailand and around the globe under his design studio, Bunnag Architects. His resort creations have received extensive international recognition and awards. In 2012 he was designated a National Artist of Thailand in the field of Architecture. In 2011 he received the a+d Spectrum Foundation of India's Golden Award for Excellence in Architecture. In 2014 he represented Thailand in the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia as Curator and Designer for the Thailand Pavilion, titled “ Spirituality — freedom and creativity, a fundamental in Thai Architecture ” . The National Artist ( th, ศิลปินแห่งชาติ, , ) is a title given annually by the Office of the National Culture Commission of Thailand, recognizing notable Thai artists in the area of intangible cultural heritage such as literature, fine arts, visual arts, applied arts (architecture, design) and performing arts (Thai dance, international dance, puppetry, shadow play, Thai music, international music, drama and film). Since 1985, the honors have been presented on 24 February, "National Artist Day", in Thailand. The date was chosen because it is the birthdate of Buddha Loetla Nabhalai, or King Rama II, who was an artist himself. The word was first used scientifically in optics to describe the rainbow of colors in visible light after passing through a prism. Silpakorn University (SU.) ( th, มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร; ) is a national university in Thailand. The university was founded in Bangkok in 1943 by Tuscan–born art professor Corrado Feroci, who took the Thai name Silpa Bhirasri when he became a Thai citizen.
