Matea Pletikosić
Matea Pletikosić (born 24 April 1998) is a Croatian-born Montenegrin handball player for ŽRK Budućnost and the Montenegrin national team. She played for Croatia in youth categories, but chose to play for Montenegro on a senior level. She represented Croatia at the 2015 European Women's Youth Handball Championship in North Macedonia. She represented Montenegro at the 2020 European Women's Handball Championship. Sinj
Sinj (; it, Signo; german: Zein) is a town in the continental part of Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. The town itself has a population of 11,478 and the population of the administrative municipality, which includes surrounding villages, is 24,826 (2011). Geography Sinj is located in the heart of the Dalmatian hinterland, the area known as ''Cetinska krajina'', a group of settlements situated on a fertile karstic field of Sinjsko polje through which the river Cetina passes. Sinj lies between four mountains: Svilaja, Dinara, Kamešnica and Visoka. Those mountains give Sinj its specific submediterranean climate (hotter summers and colder winters). Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. 2020 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2020 European Women's Handball Championship was held from 3 to 20 December 2020. The games were played in Herning and Kolding, Denmark. Originally, this tournament would be held with 2 host countries: Norway and Denmark. However, lacking some time for the beginning, Norway renounced the right to seat, respecting the local legislation about the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was also be one of the qualification events for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship. It was also be played behind closed doors due to the pandemic. Norway won the tournament for the eighth time after defeating France in the final. Croatia won the third place game to capture their first ever medal.
