Matchmaking is the process of matching two or more people together, usually for the purpose of marriage, in which case the matchmaker is also known as a marriage broker. The Matchmaker (Frasier)
"The Matchmaker" is the third episode of the second season of American sitcom ''Frasier''. The episode aired on October 4, 1994 on NBC. It is noteworthy in being Joe Keenan's first episode produced on the show, after which he became a regular writer and eventually executive producer on the show. It won a GLAAD Media Award for its lighthearted satire of the various stereotypes surrounding gay men. It was also a breakthrough performance for Eric Lutes, leading to his casting as a regular on '' Caroline in the City''. Matchmakers
Matchmakers is a brand of chocolate sticks currently owned and made by Nestlé. Thin, twig-like and brittle, they were first launched in 1968 by Rowntree's and were one-third of the length they are now - about the length of a match. For many years they were available in either orange, mint, lemon (from the brand's 25th anniversary) or coffee flavour (from its 10th anniversary). In 2003 Nestlé attempted to raise brand awareness by changing the names of the flavours to ''Cool Mint'' and ''Zingy Orange'' and adding ''Brilliant Blackcurrant'' and ''Sizzling Strawberry'' flavour – which counted 'black pepper flavoured sugar pieces' among its ingredients. Similarly, the packaging was altered in an attempt to appeal to 15- to 35-year-olds, and a new slogan was adopted – 'The manic munch that packs a punch'. Gerard Van Honthorst
Gerard van Honthorst (Dutch: ''Gerrit van Honthorst''; 4 November 1592 – 27 April 1656) was a Dutch Golden Age painting, Dutch Golden Age painter who became known for his depiction of artificially lit scenes, eventually receiving the nickname ''Gherardo delle Notti'' ("Gerard of the Nights"). Early in his career he visited Rome, where he had great success painting in a style influenced by Caravaggio. Following his return to the Netherlands he became a leading portrait painter. ''The Matchmaker'' or ''The Procuress'' is an oil on panel painting by Dutch artist Gerard van Honthorst, created in 1625, now in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, for which it was bought in 1951 by the Vereniging Rembrandt. History and description Van Honthorst was part of the Utrecht Caravaggisti School. From 1610 to 1620 he stayed in Italy, where he specialized in nocturnal paintings with pronounced chiaroscuro, which earned him the nickname Gerardo delle Notti. The painting presents a young woman with a provocative neckline and a seductive smile; she is accompanied by a man who carries a purse in his hand and an old woman. All of them are in a shallow space. The light from the candle on the table accentuates the young woman's cleavage and her colorful and feathered clothes. ''The Matchmaker'' is a 1954 play by Thornton Wilder, a rewritten version of his 1938 play ''The Merchant of Yonkers''. History The play has a long and colorful history. John Oxenford's 1835 one-act farce ''A Day Well Spent'' had been extended into the full-length play ''Einen Jux will er sich machen'' by Austrian playwright Johann Nestroy in 1842. He is widely recognised for his eccentric clothing and wild hair and his production of several cutting edge drum and bass tracks. ''Svaty'' ( uk, Свати; russian: Сваты; "In-Laws") is a Ukrainian comedy series from the production company Kvartal-95. In total, seven seasons were created and the musical ''Novogodniye Svaty'' ("New Year's In-Laws"). Also, a television program called . Premiere screenings of the series aired on the TV channels Russia-1 (Russia), Inter, 1+1 and ICTV (Ukraine). In July 2017, the shooting of Season 7 began. On 23 November 2017, featured actor Fyodor Dobronravov was banned from entering Ukraine for three years for publicly supporting the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea.
