Match-fixing In Association Football
The issue of match fixing in association football has been described, in 2013, by Chris Eaton, the former Head of Security of FIFA (the sport's world governing body), as a "crisis", while UEFA's president Michel Platini has said that if it continues, "football is dead." Zhang Jilong, president of the Asian Football Confederation, has stated that it is a "pandemic." The issue also affects a number of other sports across the world. In May 2011, world governing body FIFA announced an anti-match fixing plan, and in September 2012 FIFA President Sepp Blatter warned that match-fixing endangered "the integrity of the game." In September 2014 the Council of Europe also announced they would tackle the problem. A number of clubs in countries across the world have been subject to match fixing, including Australia, China, and Spain. The South African national team has also been investigated. He is a well-known figure in the world of sports results manipulation and is sought worldwide for his opinion and feedback on program's aimed at tackling corruption in sport. 2017–2019 Belgian Football Fraud Scandal
In Belgian football, the ''Operation Zero'' investigation, known informally as ''Operation Clean Hands'' (Dutch: '), was conducted by the examining magistrate of Limburg on behalf of the Belgian Federal Public Prosecutor's Office from 2017 to 2019. The investigation was concerned with organized crime, money laundering, and private corruption ( bribery) in Belgian football, division 1A and Division 1B specifically. Starting in late 2017, the investigation rose to national prominence on October 10, 2018, when 44 house searches were carried out across Belgium and 14 more house searches internationally. 29 suspects were arrested in Belgium, and four more abroad. China League One
The Chinese Football Association China League (), also known as China League One or Chinese Jia League (中甲联赛), is the second level of professional football in China. Above League One is the Chinese Super League. Prior to the formation of the Chinese Super League, Jia League was known as ''Jia B League''. The then top two levels of Chinese football league were known as ''Jia A League'' and ''Jia B League'' respectively. ''Jia A'' was rebranded as CSL and ''Jia B'' was rebranded as the current Jia League in 2004. Below the Jia League is the Yi League, following the Chinese Heavenly Stems naming convention of numbers. 2001 Chinese Football Match-fixing Scandal
The 2001 China Jia B League Match Fixing, also called the Five Jia B Rats incident (甲B五鼠事件) in China, was a series of match fixing that involved five football teams – Chengdu F.C., Jiangsu Sainty, Changchun Yatai, Zhejiang Green Town and Mianyang F.C. – in the final rounds of the 2001 second-tier Jia B League (present day China League One). Referee Gong Jianping was the sole individual punished for the scandal, he served 18 months in prison before dying of leukemia. Some sport insiders described him as a "scapegoat" and thought the scandal ended up with no real punishment to other individuals and clubs, which might have led to bigger scandals in top-tier league in 2003.
