Mata Hari (Wildhorn Musical)
''Mata Hari at the Moulin Rouge'' is a musical with a book by Ivan Menchell, lyrics by Jack Murphy, and music by Frank Wildhorn. It is based on the life of Mata Hari, a dancer and spy during World War I. It premiered on 29 March 2016 in South Korea at Bluesquare Interpark Hall with the production directed by Jeff Calhoun. The Japan premiere production ran from 21 to 28 January 2018 in Umeda Arts Theater in Osaka and 3 to 18 February in Tokyo International Forum Hall C in Tokyo. An subsequent production opened in Seoul, South Korea, in June 2017 directed by Stephen Rayne that featured major changes to the story and structure. Synopsis The musical tells the story of Mata Hari, an exotic dancer who was executed in France following a conviction of espionage during World War I. Frank Wildhorn
Frank Wildhorn (born November 29, 1958) is an American composer of both musicals and popular songs. His musical ''Jekyll & Hyde'' ran for four years on Broadway. He also wrote the #1 International hit song "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" for Whitney Houston. Early years Wildhorn was born in Harlem and spent his childhood in Queens before moving to Hollywood, Florida, at age 14. Soon after he taught himself how to play the piano, Wildhorn realized he wanted to compose music. During high school, he played in and wrote for various bands, ranging from rock and roll to Rhythm and blues to jazz. He attended Miami-Dade College for two years before transferring to the University of Southern California, where he studied history and philosophy. Shin Sung-rok (born November 23, 1982) is a South Korean actor. He frequently appears in films and television series, but is better known an active in musical theatre. Early life Shin had initially aspired to become a basketball player together with his brother Je-rok, who is two years younger. Both brothers attended Whimoon High School, known as one of Seoul's top high school basketball programs. RabidAnce (Hangul: 라비던스) is a South Korean crossover vocal group formed in 2020. The quartet finished runner-up in the JTBC TV singing audition show named '' Phantom Singer 3'', which aired between April 10 and July 3, 2020.
