Mat Hames is an Emmy-Winning American independent filmmaker known for the PBS and Prime Video documentary series ''Power Trip: the Story of Energy'', as well as his Independent Lens documentaries ''When I Rise'' and ''What Was Ours''. He was knighted by King Albert II for his documentary film about Belgian Resistance escape lines in World War II ''Last Best Hope''. He directed the Rooster Teeth RTDocs Series including ''Common Ground'', ''Waiting for the Punchline'', ''Why We're Here: 15 Years of Rooster Teeth'', ''The Meme Machine'', and ''Connected''. ''Independent Lens'' is a weekly television series airing on PBS featuring documentary films made by independent filmmakers. Past seasons of ''Independent Lens'' were hosted by Angela Bassett, Don Cheadle, Susan Sarandon, Edie Falco, Terrence Howard, Maggie Gyllenhaal, America Ferrera, Mary-Louise Parker, and Stanley Tucci, who served two stints as host from 2012-2014. A cancer survivor is a person with cancer of any type who is still living. Whether a person becomes a survivor at the time of diagnosis or after completing treatment, whether people who are actively dying are considered survivors, and whether healthy friends and family members of the cancer patient are also considered survivors, varies from group to group. The Livestrong Foundation is a United States nonprofit organization that provides support for people affected by cancer. The foundation, based in Austin, Texas, was established in 1997 by cancer survivor and former professional road racing cyclist Lance Armstrong, as the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
