''Masters of Horror'' is an anthology television series created by director Mick Garris for the Showtime cable network. Origin In 2002, director Mick Garris invited some director friends to an informal dinner at a restaurant in Sherman Oaks, California. The original ten "masters" attending were John Carpenter, Larry Cohen, Don Coscarelli, Joe Dante, Guillermo del Toro, Stuart Gordon, Tobe Hooper, John Landis, Bill Malone, and Garris himself. Fred Dekker (born April 9, 1959) is an American screenwriter and film director best known for his cult classic horror comedy films ''Night of the Creeps'' and ''The Monster Squad'' (written with Shane Black). William Malone (born 1947) is an American horror filmmaker who directed several movies such as the 1999 remake ''House on Haunted Hill'', '' Scared to Death'', '' Creature'', and ''FeardotCom''. After a brief career in makeup and costumes, he attended UCLA film school and moved on as a director thereafter.
