The film marked the debut of Karin Nellemose, and is regarded by many as a classic of Danish cinema. Plot Viktor Frandsen, embittered by losing his business, is a tyrant at home, constantly criticizes his patient, hard-working wife Ida and their three children. He does not appreciate the effort it takes to maintain a household. While his wife is resigned and browbeaten, his old nanny, nicknamed "Mads" by all, openly defends her. When Ida's mother, Mrs. Kryger, pays a visit, he is very rude to her. Finally, he issues an ultimatum: either Mrs. Kryger and the openly hostile Mads (who regularly helps the family) are gone by the time he returns, or the marriage is over. Mads orchestrates a plan that will force him to rethink his notions of being the head of a household. With the help of ...

Films Directed By Carl Theodor Dreyer
A film also called a movie, motion picture, moving picture, picture, photoplay or (slang) flick is a work of visual art that simulates experiences and otherwise communicates ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty, or atmosphere through the use of moving images. These images are generally accompanied by sound and, more rarely, other sensory stimulations. The word "cinema", short for cinematography, is often used to refer to filmmaking and the film industry, and to the art form that is the result of it. Recording and transmission of film The moving images of a film are created by photographing actual scenes with a motion-picture camera, by photographing drawings or miniature models using traditional animation techniques, by means of CGI and computer animation, or by a combination of some or all of these techniques, and other visual effects. Architecture The committee for architecture was asked to choose 12 works covering both buildings and landscaping. It was decided that works could either be in Denmark designed by one or more Danes or abroad designed by Danish architects. The committee consisted of: Lone Wiggers (chair), Carsten Juel-Christiansen, Malene Hauxner, Lars Ju ...

Viggo Lindstrøm (12 January 1858 – 17 June 1926) was a Danish actor and theatre director, founder of Det Ny Teater in Copenhagen. He was married to the actress Vera Lindstrøm. Biography Lindstrøm was born on 12 January 1858 in Copenhagen, the son of a Swedish tailor, and first apprenticed as a wine merchant before turning to acting. He had his debut on 3 December 1880 in Stavanger and was then affiliated to Dagmarteatret for many years from its opening, before he moved on to Folketeatret where he was expected to succeed J. F. S. He was then hired by a development company, ''Bona'', to head the establishment of Det Ny Teater. On its opening in 1908, it was the second largest and most advanced theatre in Denmark but he left after three years due to an insignificant debt. That same year he had his debut on film a ...
