Santa Maria A Monte
Santa Maria a Monte is a ''comune'' in the Province of Pisa in the Italian region of Tuscany. The town lies about west of Florence and about east of Pisa. Geography The main ''frazioni'' are the villages of Cerretti, Montecalvoli, San Donato and Tavolaia. History Famous for its military strategic importance (the hilly position made it more defendable against enemy attacks), Santa Maria a Monte has always been disputed between several Tuscan cities. As a matter of fact, Santa Maria a Monte passed from the influence of Lucca under the influence of Florence and, in the end, it became part of the Pisa territory. The Tour of Austria (german: Internationale Österreich Rundfahrt) is a stage cycling race held in Austria. From 1949 to 1995 it was a race for amateur cyclists, turning into a professional event in 1996. Giro Di Toscana
The Giro di Toscana is a road bicycle race held annually in Tuscany, Italy. From 2005 to 2014, the race has been organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race was not held in 2015. On 4 April 2016 it was announced that the race will return in September 2016 as a three-race challenge (similar to the Trittico Lombardo or Vuelta a Mallorca), consisting in three one-day races held consecutively in Tuscany. Each race will award points to the best placed riders, and the rider who score most points will win the overall classification of Giro della Toscana. This new edition will be named ''Giro della Toscana - Memorial Alfredo Martini'', in memory of Alfredo Martini, former cyclist and coach of the Italy national cycling team.
