Massillon Bridge Company
The Massillon Bridge Company, most commonly abbreviated Massillon Bridge Co., was located in Massillon, Ohio and founded by Joseph Davenport in 1869. The company became incorporated in 1887 and remained in operation through the early 1900s. Steel truss bridges built by the Massillon Bridge Co. can be found throughout the midwest. It designed and/or built the Lilley Road – Lower Rouge River Bridge and other historic bridges. Marantette Bridge
The Marantette Bridge, also known as the Railroad Street Bridge, is a historic vehicle bridge, now closed to traffic, located at Railroad Street over the St. Joseph River in Mendon, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. History One of the first settlers in Mendon was the Indian trader Patrick Marantette, who arrived in 1833 to manage a trading post located at the site of the Marantette House near this bridge on the south side of the river. The first local bridge over the St. Joseph River was constructed in 1839 about two-thirds of a mile upstream from the Marantette Bridge. In the late 1850s, the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad first proposed a line through Mendon, and in anticipation, Patrick Marantette platted the portion of his land north of the river, including the current Railroad Street. Defiance is a city in and the county seat of Defiance County, Ohio, United States, about southwest of Toledo, Ohio, Toledo and northeast of Fort Wayne, Indiana, in Ohio's northwestern corner. Dey Road Bridge
The Dey Road Bridge is a historic truss bridge that spans the Tiffin River near the city of Defiance, Ohio, United States. Built in the 1900s, it has been designated a historic site. In 1835, an early toll bridge across the Tiffin was built at the nearby community of Brunersburg, but it was soon destroyed by a flood. The current bridge is a Pratt through truss bridge that was manufactured by the Massillon Bridge Company and built in 1906. Built on concrete supports, it is constructed primarily of iron. In 1907, it became a local landmark for surveying purposes when a USGS surveyor placed a benchmark on its northwestern abutment. Brecksville, Ohio
Brecksville is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States, and a suburb in the Greater Cleveland area. The city's population was 13,635 at the United States 2020 Census. History Brecksville was founded in 1811, four years after several men—including Colonel John Breck—purchased the surrounding area. After the land was surveyed, Seth Payne, one of the surveyors, brought his family and settled in the area in June 1811, and he was soon followed by many other families. Although Colonel Breck never lived in Brecksville, his three sons did, and members of his family continued to live in Brecksville until 1934, when his great-grandson Dr. Theodore Breck died. The Cuyahoga River ( , or ) is a river located in Northeast Ohio that bisects the City of Cleveland and feeds into Lake Erie. As Cleveland emerged as a major manufacturing center, the river became heavily affected by industrial pollution, so much so that it caught fire at least 14 times, most famously on June 22, 1969, helping to spur the American environmental movement. The Station Road Bridge, near Brecksville, Ohio, was built in 1882. It spans the Cuyahoga River between Cuyahoga County and Summit County, Ohio. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The bridge was documented in the Historic American Engineering Record in 1985. It was built by the Massillon Bridge Company.
