The Massachusetts House of Representatives 3rd Hampshire District or "3rd Hampshire" is an electoral district for the Massachusetts House of Representatives. It consists of the towns of Amherst, Pelham and precinct 1 of Granby. Democrat Mindy Domb of Amherst has represented the district since 2019. The current district geographic boundary overlaps with those of the Massachusetts Senate's 1st Hampden and Hampshire district and Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester district. Hatfield, Massachusetts
Hatfield is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,352 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The census-designated place of Hatfield consists of the town center and surrounding areas. History Hatfield was founded in 1660 on land granted to General Daniel Dennison and Governor William Bradford. It was formally incorporated as a town in 1670 and has a board of selectmen and an annual town meeting. One of the theories of Hatfield's incorporation in 1670 was that during that time it was a colony of Hadley and Hadley's church was located across the Connecticut River on what is now West Street in present-day Hadley. Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden is a district of the Massachusetts Senate since 2013. It covers an area of 1,529.5 square miles across the expanse of Berkshire, Hampshire, Hampden and Franklin counties. Democrat Adam Hinds of Pittsfield has represented the district since 2017. Hinds is running unopposed for re-election in the 2020 Massachusetts general election. Solomon Goldstein-Rose
Solomon Goldstein-Rose (born December 5, 1993) is an American politician, climate activist, and author, who served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. From 2017 to 2019 he represented the 3rd Hampshire district (includes Amherst, Pelham, and Precinct 1 of Granby). Goldstein-Rose ran for an open State Rep seat during his last semester of college and the following summer, at age 22. He won the 6-way Democratic primary in September 2016 and was uncontested in the general election in November 2016. Goldstein-Rose's campaign platform focused on his youth and energy to push for system change, with an emphasis on clean energy and education policy. Once in the legislature he introduced bills related to clean energy, K-12 education, and election reform, and joined the Progressive Caucus in pushing for criminal justice reform and other policies. Stanley C. Rosenberg (born November 12, 1949) is an American politician who served as President of the Massachusetts Senate from January 2015 until December 2017. Rosenberg was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1986 and served as the representative for Amherst and Pelham until 1991 when he won a special election for the State Senate seat being vacated by Congressman John Olver. A Democrat, Rosenberg resigned from the Senate on May 4, 2018, amidst a sexual harassment scandal involving his husband, Bryon Hefner. Hadley (, ) is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,325 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area around the Hampshire and Mountain Farms Malls along Route 9 is a major shopping destination for the surrounding communities. History Early Hadley was first settled in 1659 and was officially incorporated in 1661. The former Norwottuck was renamed for Hadleigh, Suffolk.
