Massachusetts Amateur
The Massachusetts State Amateur Championship or Massachusetts Amateur is a golf championship held in Massachusetts for the state's top amateur golfers. The tournament is run by the Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA) in mid-July each year. The amateur championship is the biggest and most subscribed event on the MGA calendar. Tournament entries are open to any amateur golfer who holds membership in an MGA member club and has an up-to-date MGA/USGA GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4. History The first event was held in 1903 at the Myopia Hunt Club and won by Arther Lockwood. Thirty eight contestants entered from the 42 MGA member clubs. Today the tournament holds a field of 144 players from 400 golf facilities across the state. The Championship starts with two days of stroke play. Longmeadow is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts, in the United States. The population was 15,853 at the 2020 census. History Longmeadow was first settled in 1644, and officially incorporated October 17, 1783. The town was originally farmland within the limits of Springfield. It remained relatively pastoral until the street railway was built , when the population tripled over a fifteen-year period. After Interstate 91 was built in the wetlands on the west side of town, population tripled again between 1960 and 1975. Taconic Golf Club is a semi-private golf course located in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The land that Taconic Golf Club is owned by Williams College, but an independent Board of Directors oversees the daily operation. Matthew Parziale (born June 5, 1987) is an American amateur golfer and winner of the 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Golf career Parziale played his college golf for Southeastern University. As a sophomore, he led the Fire to the 2007 NCCAA national title. After college, Parziale played professional golf for three years, but struggled to make a living and regained his amateur status in 2012. Parziale competed in the 2016 U.S. Mid-Amateur championship where he posted rounds of 72-74 (+6) and advanced to the match play portion of the tournament. In his first match he played #26 seed Trevor Randolph and was defeated 4 and 3. George Wright Golf Course
George Wright Golf Course is a municipal golf course in the Hyde Park and Roslindale neighborhoods of Boston, Massachusetts. The course was designed by Donald Ross, with the construction completed as one of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration (WPA) projects.
