Zev Asher (May 9, 1963 – August 7, 2013) was a Canadian experimental musician and documentary film maker. Biography Born in Montreal, Quebec, to a Jewish family. is a Japanese noise project started in 1979 by , best known for a style of harsh, confrontational noise. Since 1980, Akita has released over 400 recordings and has collaborated with various artists. The name Merzbow comes from the German dada artist Kurt Schwitters' artwork ''Merzbau'', in which Schwitters transformed the interior of his house using found objects. The name was chosen to reflect Akita's dada influence and junk art aesthetic. In addition to this, Akita has cited a wide range of musical influences from progressive rock, heavy metal, free jazz, and early electronic music to non-musical influences like dadaism, surrealism and fetish culture. RRRecords is a record label and used and new record shop based in Lowell, Massachusetts. RRRecords was the first American record label to publish underground "noise music" in the early 1980s, and published the first American vinyl by Merzbow, Masonna, Hanatarash, The Hanatarash, Violent Onsen Geisha, and various other artists. Important Records is an American independent record label based in Groveland, Massachusetts. The idea behind the label is to be like a good record store, with releases from diverse artists and genres. History John Brien started Important Records in 2001 out of his Newbury, Massachusetts apartment, initially as an online store. Brien had been the assistant manager of a record shop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, but he quit when the manager of the store was fired. Important's first two releases were ''Impossible Love'' by the American songwriter Daniel Johnston and '' Amlux'' by the Japanese noise musician Merzbow. Alejandro Jodorowsky Prullansky (; born 17 February 1929) is a Chilean-French avant-garde filmmaker.
