Mason Proper is an American rock band formed in Alpena, Michigan, in 2004. The band consists of Jonathan Visger (singer), Matt Thompson (keyboard player), Zac Fineberg (bass guitarist), Brian Konicek (guitarist) and Garrett Jones (drummer). History The band was formed in Alpena in 2004 and recorded extensively throughout the year. On 17 January 2006, they released '' There Is A Moth In Your Chest'' on their own Mang Chung label. Cover art was provided by Aaron Burtch, the drummer of Grandaddy. In 2006, the group focused on promoting their first album, touring across the country and recording sessions. In September, the band signed with the New York-based Dovecote Records Dovecote Records was a New York-based independent record label. It was run by its founder, Carter Matschullat, and was distributed by Redeye Distribution in the US. Ann Arbor Art Fairs
The Ann Arbor Art Fair is a group of four award-winning, not-for-profit United States art fairs that take place annually in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Over 400,000 visitors attend the fairs each year. Prior to 2016, the fair ran Wednesday through Saturday, generally the third weekend in July. Beginning in 2016, the days shifted to Thursday through Sunday. There'll be no event in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was to blame; those will return in 2021. Alpena, Michigan
Alpena ( ') is the only city in and county seat of Alpena County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,483 at the 2010 census. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Dovecote Records was a New York-based independent record label. It was run by its founder, Carter Matschullat, and was distributed by Redeye Distribution in the US. Artists and projects Dovecote's roster included Wise Blood, SSION, Hooray for Earth, Supreme Cuts, Ski Lodge, Jonquil, Wunder Wunder, The Futureheads, Ed Harcourt, Mason Proper, Tim Williams, Trevor Giuliani, Cast Spells, Bad Veins, Blamma! Blamma! and Aberdeen City. In 2011 Dovecote Records held a SXSW showcase featuring performances by Wise Blood, Hooray for Earth, Dominique Young Unique, Baths, Trash Talk, and Big Freedia. Absofacto
Absofacto is a solo project by musician Jonathan Visger, a member of Michigan-based indie rock band Mason Proper. In 2008, Visger released his first solo efforts, ''North South, Pt. 1'', under his own name, and ''Trilobite Trash'', under the pseudonym Bug Lung Baby. In 2009, the EP ''Tagalong'' was released under the moniker Absofacto, the name Visger has used for all his solo musical projects since. In 2017, Visger (as Absofacto) signed with Atlantic Records and released his major-label debut with the EP ''Thousand Peaces''. The song "Dissolve", originally released in 2015, was included as a track on the EP and released as a single in 2018, but it failed to make any kind of impact. Grandaddy
Grandaddy is an American indie rock band from Modesto, California. The group was formed in 1992, and featured Jason Lytle, Aaron Burtch, Jim Fairchild, Kevin Garcia and Tim Dryden, until Garcia's death in 2017 following a stroke. After several self-released records and cassettes, the band signed to Will Records in the US and later the V2 Records subsidiary Big Cat Records in the UK, going on to sign an exclusive deal with V2.
