Masked Man
The Masked Man is a fictional comic book crime-fighter created by B.C. Boyer and published by Eclipse Comics. His first appearance was in '' Eclipse'' #7, dated November 1982. The Masked Man is the alter ego of private eye Dick Carstairs, who takes on the identity of the Masked Man so that his friend Barney McAllister, a reporter, could grab headlines using tales of his crime-fighting adventures. Publication history Boyer originally created the character as a simple one-shot "throwaway" for ''Eclipse'', and originally pitched it as ''White Collar Man'' before Eclipse publisher Dean Mullaney persuaded him to retitle the strip. While the character's visual similarity to Will Eisner's The Spirit has been noted, Boyer claimed the latter had no influence on the Masked Man, who was instead born out of the creator's apathy towards overcomplicated superhero costumes, and that he was unaware of the similarities until editor Cat Yronwode pointed out the resemblance. Eclipse Comics
Eclipse Comics was an American comic book publisher, one of several independent publishers during the 1980s and early 1990s. In 1978, it published the first graphic novel intended for the newly created comic book specialty store market. It was one of the first to offer royalties and creator ownership of rights, and it was the first comics company to publish trading cards. History The company was founded as Eclipse Enterprises by brothers Jan and Dean Mullaney in 1977. Eclipse published one of the first original graphic novels, and the first to be sold through the new "direct market" of comic-book stores, '' Sabre: Slow Fade of an Endangered Species'' by Don McGregor and Paul Gulacy. Total Eclipse (comics)
''Total Eclipse'' was a comic book limited series in five parts published by Eclipse Comics in 1988. A cross-company crossover in the style of ''Crisis on Infinite Earths'', ''Total Eclipse'' was intended to bring all of the company's characters together, no matter how obscure or bizarre, many of whom were acquisitions from defunct Hillman Periodicals. These include Airboy, Black Angel, Dot, Impulse, Misery, Polestar, Prowler, Sgt. Strike, Skywolf, Strike!, Tachyon, and Valkyrie. The title consisted of a main story written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by Bo Hampton. Accompanying the main story were backup stories by various creators featuring Eclipse characters. Visual impairment, also known as vision impairment, is a medical definition primarily measured based on an individual's better eye visual acuity; in the absence of treatment such as correctable eyewear, assistive devices, and medical treatment– visual impairment may cause the individual difficulties with normal daily tasks including reading and walking. Low vision is a functional definition of visual impairment that is chronic, uncorrectable with treatment or correctable lenses, and impacts daily living. As such low vision can be used as a disability metric and varies based on an individual's experience, environmental demands, accommodations, and access to services. Bo Hampton
Bo Hampton (born 1954 in North Carolina) is an American comic book and cartoon artist. He is the older brother of fellow comics-creator Scott Hampton. Andelman, Bob"Scott Hampton & Bo Hampton Interview,"''A Spirited Life'' (July 17, 2006). He graduated from the School of Visual Arts, New York City, where he studied under Will Eisner and Al Williamson. (Hampton later worked as Eisner's studio assistant.)
