Myth has it that the settlent got its name from Storkbirds (Ngoto). It was narrated that Masii used to be inhibited by s certain tree Itungi which bears fruits that were a delicasy for this immigrating birds. Masii was their home escaping winter in Europe. When humans settled in Masii they cut the Itungi tree to the detriment of the immigrating birds. When they time to land in Masii came the birds found their paradise destroyed and they left wailing thina twooneie masii sii sii (the disaster we faced in Masii) and thus was the birth of the name of the settlement. Machakos County
Machakos County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, which came into being because of the devolved system of governance occasioned by the 2010 constitution of Kenya. The country's first administrative headquarters are in Machakos Town, which is the largest town in the county. The county had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. Tala is a town in Machakos County, located in the lower eastern region of Kenya and about 56 kilometres east of the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. It is usually classified as being one town with Kangundo, due to their close proximity. It is 3,000 ft above sea level. Tala is a location of Matungulu division. Machakos
Machakos, also called Masaku is a town in Kenya, southeast of Nairobi. It is the capital of the Machakos County, Kenya. Its population is rapidly growing and was 150,041 as of 2009 and Machakos County had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. People who live here are mostly of the Akamba ethnicity. Machakos is surrounded by hilly terrain, with a high number of family farms. History Machakos was established in 1887 by Sakshi Shah, ten years before Nairobi. Machakos was the first administrative centre for the British colony, the capital was moved to Nairobi in 1899 when Machakos was by-passed by the Uganda Railway that was under construction.
