Mash Ingredients
Mash ingredients, mash bill, mashbill, or grain bill are the materials that brewers use to produce the wort that they then ferment into alcohol. Mashing is the act of creating and extracting fermentable and non-fermentable sugars and flavor components from grain by steeping it in hot water, and then letting it rest at specific temperature ranges to activate naturally occurring enzymes in the grain that convert starches to sugars. The sugars separate from the mash ingredients, and then yeast in the brewing process converts them to alcohol and other fermentation products. A typical primary mash ingredient is grain that has been malted. Modern-day malt recipes generally consist of a large percentage of a light malt and, optionally, smaller percentages of more flavorful or highly colored types of malt. Mashing
In brewing and distilling, mashing is the process of combining a mix of ground grains – typically malted barley with supplementary grains such as corn, sorghum, rye, or wheat – known as the "grain bill" with water and then heating the mixture. Mashing allows the enzymes in the malt (primarily, α-amylase and β-amylase) to break down the starch in the grain into sugars, typically maltose to create a malty liquid called wort. The two main methods of mashing are infusion mashing, in which the grains are heated in one vessel, and decoction mashing, in which a proportion of the grains are boiled and then returned to the mash, raising the temperature. Mashing involves pauses at certain temperatures (notably ) and takes place in a "mash tun" – an insulated brewing vessel with a false bottom. A mashup (also mesh, mash up, mash-up, blend, bastard pop or bootleg) is a creative work, usually a song, created by blending two or more pre-recorded songs, typically by superimposing the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the instrumental track of another and changing the tempo and key where necessary. Such works are considered "transformative" of original content and in the United States they may find protection from copyright claims under the "fair use" doctrine of copyright law. ''Mashed'' is a compilation album released on EMI on 12 February 2007. It is one of the first fully legal mashup albums. Giles Harris was responsible for the album's concept, track listing, title as well as the laborious work involved in clearing each piece of music that featured on the album. Most of the tracks were produced by Mark Vidler aka Go Home Productions. "Boogie Oogie Music" and "Horny as a Dandy" were produced by Loo and Placido. ''Mashed'' is a vehicular combat racing video game developed by Supersonic Software. The game was originally released in Europe for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Microsoft Windows in June 2004. An updated version with additional features, titled ''Mashed: Fully Loaded'' in Europe and ''Drive to Survive'' internationally, was released in Europe in March 2005 and in North America in December 2006. The direct sequel '' Wrecked: Revenge Revisited'' was released in 2012. While the game allows four-player multiplayer, the PlayStation 2 only natively supported two controllers. Since the game used so few buttons, the PlayStation 2 version uniquely allows two people to share a controller - one player would use the D-pad and the left stick, the other would use the colored buttons and the right stick. Mashable is a digital media platform, news website and entertainment company founded by Pete Cashmore in 2005. History Mashable was founded by Pete Cashmore while living in Aberdeen, Scotland, in July 2005. Early iterations of the site were a simple WordPress blog, with Cashmore as sole author.
