Masaya () is the capital city of Masaya Department in Nicaragua. It is situated approximately 14 km west of Granada and 31 km southeast of Managua. It is located just east of the Masaya Volcano, an active volcano from which the city takes its name. With an estimated population of 136,584 (2021), it is Nicaragua's fourth most populous city, and is culturally known as the City of Flowers. History It is believed that the Niquiranos were the first people to dwell in the land of Masaya (the Chorotegas had also inhabited these areas). There is evidence of their settlements in small towns like Nindiri, Niquinohomo and Monimbó from before the Spanish Conquest. One of the city's principle neighborhoods is Monimbó (which in Spanish means "close to the water") and is located very close to the lagoon. There is documented evidence that in the 6th century, Monimbó had a population of about 150 tributaries. Pedrarias Davila initiated the conquest of what is now Masaya in 15 ...

Cho Aniki
is a Japanese video game series originally developed by Masaya and published by NCS Corp. The first game was released in 1992 for the PC Engine system. The game's sequels and spin-offs later appeared on the Super Famicom, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, WonderSwan, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. Mainly consisting of side-scrolling shoot 'em ups in the vein of ''Gradius'', the ''Cho Aniki'' series is best known for its homoerotic overtones, wacky humor and vivid, surreal imagery. Most of the games have never seen release outside Japan. For various reasons, the popularity of the ''Cho Aniki'' games has endured since the series' debut. Highlights of the various games include in-game music, innovative control schemes, or sheer kitsch value. In Japan, these games are examples of ''baka-ge'', which literally means "idiot game" whose appeal lies in its campiness. The rights to the series are currently owned by Extreme Co., Ltd., which had obtained the rights of NCS Corp. and Masaya p ...

Prince Of Persia (1989 Video Game)
''Prince of Persia'' is a cinematic platform game developed and published by Broderbund for the Apple II in 1989. It was designed and implemented by Jordan Mechner. Taking place in medieval Persia, players control an unnamed protagonist who must venture through a series of dungeons to defeat the evil Grand Vizier Jaffar and save an imprisoned princess. Much like ''Karateka'', Mechner's first video game, ''Prince of Persia'' used rotoscoping for its fluid and realistic animation. For this process, Mechner used as reference for the characters' movements videos of his brother doing acrobatic stunts in white clothes, and swashbuckler films such as ''The Adventures of Robin Hood''. The game was critically acclaimed but was not an immediate commercial success, as it was released at the tail end of the Apple II's relevance. It sold many copies as it was ported to a wide range of platforms. It is believed to have been the first cinematic platformer and inspired many games in this su ...

''Langrisser II'' was remade for the Super Famicom by Masaya as ''Der Langrisser'', which featured multiple paths through the game, greatly reduced difficulty, and reworked graphics. A PC-FX port, ''Der Langrisser FX'', was also released, featuring animated cutscenes. It was later compiled with the first ''Langrisser'' for the PlayStation as ''Langrisser I & II '', and then given a script edit and new branch of the Imperial path in its Saturn remake as ''Langrisser: Dramatic Edition''. A Windows 98 port of the game was released in Japanese, Chinese and Korean; it features redrawn, high-resolution graphics, but a vastly trimmed-down soundtrack to fit the confines of a standard CD.
