María Clara, whose full name is María Clara de los Santos y Alba, is the ''mestiza'' heroine in '' Noli Me Tángere'', a novel by José Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. Her name and character have since become a byword in Filipino culture for the traditional, feminine ideal. María Clara is the childhood sweetheart and fiancée of ''Noli Me Tángere''s main protagonist, Juan Crisóstomo Ibarra y Magsalin, the son of Don Rafael Ibarra. Head, Clara and Maria, officially the United Townships of Head, Clara and Maria, is a municipality and incorporated township in Renfrew County in eastern Ontario, Canada, It is on the Ottawa River and on the northern edge of Algonquin Park. Virtually all the communities (Deux-Rivières, Bissett Creek, Stonecliffe and Mackey) and activities are along Highway 17, the rest of the township is largely crown land which is mostly wilderness. Head, Clara and Maria is bordered on the north by the Ottawa River and on the south by Algonquin Provincial Park. Trans Canada Highway 17 runs through the four hamlets which make up this municipality. Maria Clara Machado (3 April 1921, in Belo Horizonte — 30 April 2001, in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian playwright, who specialized on plays for children.
