María Cecilia Barbetta
María Cecilia Barbetta (born 8 July 1972 in Buenos Aires) is a German-language writer. Since 2011 she is a member of the PEN Centre Germany. In 2008, she won the Aspekte-Literaturpreis. Life Barbetta studied German as a foreign language in her native Argentina. She came to Berlin in 1996 with a DAAD scholarship. After completing her doctorate at the Free University of Berlin in 2000, she has been a freelance author (since 2005). In 2007 she was awarded the Alfred Döblin Fellowship by the Academy of Arts, Berlin, and participated in the author's workshop Prosa of the Literary Colloquium in Berlin. ''Los Milagros Tailor's Shop'' was her first novel. She spent the year 2013 at Villa Massimo in Rome. In 2014 she received scholarships from the Berlin Senate and the German Literature Fund Darmstadt. She writes in German and has lived in Berlin since 1996. Alfred Döblin Prize
The Alfred Döblin Prize (german: Alfred-Döblin-Preis) is a German literary award. Named after Alfred Döblin, it was endowed by Günter Grass in 1979. The prize is awarded every two years jointly by the Academy of Arts, Berlin and the Literary Colloquium Berlin for substantial unpublished literary works in progress. The current prize level on offer is 15,000 Euros. It is a requirement of the award that finalists take part in a reading competition: nominees are invited to the Literary Colloquium Berlin where they read out their texts and open them to discussion. Since 2007, selected authors' presentations have been recorded and made available on the German literary portal Literaturport. The prize winner is nominated by the jury directly after the reading; the awards ceremony then takes place traditionally the following day at the Academy of Arts, Berlin. Adelbert Von Chamisso Prize
The Adelbert von Chamisso Prize (German ''Adelbert-von-Chamisso-Preis'') was a German literary award established in 1985, given to a work whose author's mother tongue is not German, as was the case for Adelbert von Chamisso. It was offered by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. In addition to the main prize with a prize money of 15,000 €, one or more promotional prizes ("Förderpreise") with a prize money of 7,000 € and sometimes an honorary award ("Ehrengabe") were given. The prize was created by Harald Weinrich. In 2016, the Robert Bosch Stiftung announced that the prize would be discontinued after the final 2017 award, saying that it had now fulfilled its original objective. PEN Centre Germany is part of the worldwide association of writers founded in London in 1921, now known as PEN International. One of over 140 autonomous PEN centres around the world, PEN Centre Germany is based in Darmstadt, Hesse. Villa Massimo, short for Deutsche Akademie Rom Villa Massimo ( it, Accademia Tedesca Roma Villa Massimo), is a German cultural institution in Rome, established in 1910 and located in the Villa Massimo. The fellowship of the German Academy in Rome is one of the most important awards granted to distinguished artists for study abroad. The award offers residencies of one year at Villa Massimo in Rome as well as three months at Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano to artists who have excelled in Germany and abroad, including architects, composers, writers and artists. The institution's founder was the patron and entrepreneur Eduard Arnhold, who in 1910 acquired the beautiful property of 36,000 m2, previously the suburban villa of the aristocratic Massimo family.
