Marzio Martelli
Marzio Martelli (born 14 December 1971) is a former professional tennis player from Italy. In 1996, Martelli reached the semi-finals of the Campionati Internazionali di Sicilia, as a qualifier. En route he defeated second seed Alberto Berasategui. Martelli made the second round of two Grand Slams in 1997, at Wimbledon and the French Open. On the 1997 ATP Tour, he had his best result at the Bologna Outdoor tournament, beating two top 50 players on the way to a semi-final appearance. He was also a member of the Italian Davis Cup team which won against Spain that year in the quarter-finals of the World Group. In what would be the only Davis Cup rubber he would ever play, Martelli was defeated by Carlos Moyá, but he did manage to win the second set against the Australian Open runner-up. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. Salvador Navarro Gutiérrez (born 8 January 1977) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Career Navarro qualified for his only Grand Slam in 1997, at the French Open. He won his opening round match against countryman Marcos Aurelio Gorriz, in five sets, but would lose to Jan Siemerink in the second round. He never made a quarter-final during his singles career on the ATP Tour but did have a win over world number 27 Sébastien Grosjean at the 2000 Torneo Godó, held in his hometown of Barcelona. Filip Dewulf
Filip Dewulf (born 15 March 1972) is a former professional male tennis player from Belgium. In his career, he won two ATP Tour singles titles and one title in doubles. In 1997 he reached the semifinals of the French Open, his best singles result ever and the first Belgian tennis player (male or female) to reach the semi-final at a Grand Slam tournament. He defeated Cristiano Caratti, Fernando Meligeni, Albert Portas, Àlex Corretja and Magnus Norman before he was defeated in four sets by the eventual champion, Gustavo Kuerten. This was, according to Roland Garros itself, the best performance that a qualifier has performed at a French Open, and only the third time in Grand Slam history that a qualifier had reached a semi-final. Goran Ivanišević (; born 13 September 1971) is a Croatian former professional tennis player and current coach. He is the only player to win a The Championships, Wimbledon, Wimbledon singles title as a Wild card (sports)#Professional tennis, wildcard.
