The latter reflects the original Hebrew pronunciation of the name (Masoretic pronunciation ), as attested by the Septuagint. The vowel "a" in a closed unaccented syllable later became "i", as seen in other names such as "Bil'am" (Balaam) and "Shimshon" (Samson). Etymology The name may have originated from the Egyptian language; it is likely derivative of the root , meaning "love; beloved"A. Maas"The Name of Mary" ''The Catholic Encyclopedia'' (1912), citing Fr. von Hummelauer (''in Exod. et Levit.'', Paris, 1897, p. 161) (compare , "Merit-Amun", i.e. "beloved of Amun"). The name was early etymologized as containing the Hebrew root , meaning "bitter" (cf. myrrh), or , meaning "rebellious". St. Jerome (writing ), following Eusebius of Caesarea ...

Yvonne
Yvonne is a female given name. It is the feminine form of Yvon, which is derived from the French name Yves and Yvette. It is from the French word ''iv'', meaning "yew" (or tree). Since yew wood was used for bows, Ivo may have been an occupational name meaning "archer". Yvonne/Ivonne is also a Spanish girl name. This name first arrived in England with the Norman invasion, along with variations such as Yvette and male versions of the same name. It was the most popular of all of these names, but would fall out of favor. It was reintroduced into English-speaking countries in the early 20th century, when it was very popular. It is currently 173rd in the United States popular names list, but is an uncommon name in younger generations. It has also lost popularity in France, where in 1900 it was the 7th most popular name. It is a popular Protestant name in Northern Ireland. Yvonne has several name days: May 26 in Sweden and December 11th in Ireland and Scotland. People This is a ...

Marrevone Dialect
Makhuwa (''Emakhuwa''; also spelt Makua and Macua) is the primary Bantu language of northern Mozambique. It is spoken by 4 million Makua people, who live north of the Zambezi River, particularly in Nampula Province, which is virtually entirely ethnically Makua.''Relatório do I Seminário sobre a Padronização da Ortografia de Línguas Moçambicanas''. NELIMO, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, 1989. It is the most widely spoken indigenous language of Mozambique. Long and short vowels distinguish five vowel qualities /i e a o u/, which is unusually sparse for a Bantu language: *''omala'' - to finish *''omaala'' - to paste, stick *''omela'' - to sprout, bud *''omeela'' - to share out The consonants are more complex: postalveolar ''tt'' and ''tth'' exist, both ''p'' and ''ph'' ...
