Marysville is a city and the county seat of Yuba County, California, located in the Gold Country region of Northern California. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 12,072, reflecting a decrease of 196 from the 12,268 counted in the 2000 Census. It is part of the Yuba-Sutter area of Greater Sacramento. History Marysville is located on the ancestral land of the Maidu, who occupied the area for 10,000 years prior to the arrival of Jedediah Smith and trappers from the Hudson Bay Company in 1828, who were the first non-natives to explore the area. Spanish and Mexican explorers never reached that far north on the Feather River. In 1842, John Sutter leased part of his Rancho New Helvetia land to Theodore Cordua, a native of Mecklenburg in Germany, who raised livestock, and in 1843 built a home and trading post he called New Mecklenburg. KOBY (940 AM) was an American radio station broadcasting an Oldies format. It was licensed to Cedar City, Utah. The license and the callsign have been deleted by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. History The station used to be known as KBRE, and then KNNZ, beginning on May 25, 2001. On February 24, 2009, while off air, the station changed its call sign to KOBY. On May 29, 2009, the Fifth District Court of Utah in Washington County, Utah, appointed a receiver to take over KOBY for US Capital, Incorporated of Boulder, Colorado, an investment group which foreclosed on Legecy Media, the owners of KOBY and several other stations. The receiver turned the license in to the FCC and requested it be canceled pursuant to court approval. It was cancelled on November 9, 2012.
