Taulia Tagovailoa (born February 26, 2000) ( ) is an American football quarterback for the Maryland Terrapins. He holds the Maryland single-season and all time school records for completions and passing yards and a share of the touchdowns record. He is also the career passing yards leader and career touchdown passes leader for Maryland. He is the brother of professional football quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. 2021 Maryland Terrapins Football Team
The 2021 Maryland Terrapins football team represented the University of Maryland during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Terrapins played their home games at Maryland Stadium in College Park, Maryland, and competed in the Big Ten Conference in the East Division. The team was coached by third-year head coach Mike Locksley and finished in fifth place in the East Division. The Terrapins defeated Virginia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl to achieve their first bowl game since 2016, their first winning season since 2014, and their first bowl game victory since 2010. Burton Shipley
Howard Burton Shipley (January 17, 1890 – February 22, 1976) was a multi-sport athlete and coach for the Maryland Terrapins at the University of Maryland. He is probably most remembered as the first and long-time head coach of the men's basketball team. He also coached the Maryland baseball team. Shipley graduated from the Maryland Agricultural College (now the University of Maryland) in 1914. While there, he played basketball, baseball, and football as a quarterback. In 1923, he became the head coach for the Maryland basketball team, a position in which he served until 1947. During his tenure, he compiled a 243–199 record. In 1917, Shipley served as the head football coach at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Kenneth Knode
Kenneth Thomson "Mike" Knode (November 8, 1895 – December 20, 1980) was an American football and baseball player. Knode was born in Westminster, Maryland in 1895. He attended both the University of Maryland and University of Michigan, playing football and baseball at both institutions. At Michigan, he was the starting quarterback of the undefeated 1918 Michigan Wolverines football team that was recognized as the national championship team of the 1918 college football season. He scored Michigan's final touchdown against Michigan Agricultural College in 1918 on a 30-yard run after faking a pass. In 1915, Knode began playing professional baseball for the Martinsburg Champs of the Blue Ridge League. Knode played under the alias of Kenny Thompson in order to keep his college eligibility. Arthur Kirkland Besley (November 9, 1902 – September 17, 1994) was an American hospital administrator and college football player.
